ABSTRACT: In the title mol-ecular salt [systematic name: 3-(5H-dibenzo[a,d]cyclo-hepten-5-yl-idene)-N,N-dimethyl-propan-aminium chloride], C(20)H(22)N(+)·Cl(-), two cation-anion pairs make up the asymmetric unit. The dihedral angles between the mean planes of the two fused benzene rings of the cation are 49.5?(1) and 50.9?(1)°. The cystal packing is stabilized by N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds and weak C-H?Cl inter-actions.

Project description:In the title salt, C(12)H(24)N(+)·Cl(-), both cyclo-hexyl rings adopt chair conformations and the NH(2) unit is situated in the equatorial position with respect to the rings in the cation. The large C-N-C bond angle [117.99 (14)°] in the cation is a result of linking two bulky cyclo-hexyl rings to the N atom. The aminium H atoms are involved in inter-molecular N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, forming an infinite zigzag chain parallel to the c axis. The crystal studied was a racemic twin with a twin fraction of 0.28 (18).

Redetermination of 1-carboxy-cyclo-hexan-1-aminium chloride.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, C(7)H(14)NO(2) (+)·Cl(-), was reported previously [Chacko, Srinivasan & Zand (1975 ▶). J. Cryst. Mol. Struct.5, 353-357] from Weissenberg photographic data with R = 0.113. It has now been redetermined, providing a significant increase in the precision of the derived geometric parameters, viz. mean σ(C-C) = 0.003 Å in the present work compared with 0.021 Å for the previous work. The complete cation is generated by crystallographic mirrror symmetry, with three C atoms, two O atoms and the N atom lying on the reflecting plane; the chloride anion also has m site symmetry. The crystal structure is established by a two-dimensional network of O-H⋯Cl and N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, generating C(1) (2)(4) and C(1) (2)(7) chains, and R(2) (4)(8) and R(2) (4)(14) rings.

Project description:N-Butyl-2,3-bis-(di-cyclo-hexyl-amino)-cyclo-propenimine (1) crystallizes from benzene and hexa-nes in the presence of HCl as a mono-benzene solvate of the hydro-chloride salt, [1H]Cl·C6H6 or C31H54N3 +·Cl-·C6H6, in the P21/n space group. The protonation of 1 results in the generation of an aromatic structure based upon the delocalization of the cyclo-propene double bond around the cyclo-propene ring, giving three inter-mediate C-C bond lengths of ∼1.41 Å, and the delocalization of the imine-type C-N double bond, giving three inter-mediate C-N bond lengths of ∼1.32 Å. Ion-ion and ion-benzene packing inter-actions are described and illustrated.

Project description:The 2-hy-droxy-cyclo-hexane-1,3,5-triaminium (= H(3)L(3+)) cation of the title compound, 3C(6)H(18)N(3)O(3+)·8Cl(-)·HSO(4) (-)·2H(2)O, exhibits a cyclo-hexane chair with three equatorial ammonium groups and one axial hy-droxy group in an all-cis configuration. The hydrogen sulfate anion and two water mol-ecules lie on or in proximity to a threefold axis and are disordered. The crystal structure features N-H⋯Cl and O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds. Three C(3)-symmetric motifs can be identified in the structure: (i) Two chloride ions (on the C(3)-axis) together with three H(3)L(3+) cations constitute an [(H(3)L)(3)Cl(2)](7+) cage. (ii) The lipophilic C(6)H(6)-sides of three H(3)L(3+) cations, which are oriented directly towards the C(3)-axis, generate a lipophilic void. The void is filled with the disordered water mol-ecules and with the disordered part of the hydrogen sulfate ion. The hydrogen atoms of these disordered moieties were not located. (iii) Three H(3)L(3+) cations together with one HSO(4) (-) and three Cl(-) counter-ions form an [(HSO(4))(H(3)L)(3)Cl(3)](5+) cage. Looking along the C(3)-axis, these three motifs are arranged in the order (cage 1)⋯(lipophilic void)⋯(cage 2). The crystal studied was found to be a racemic twin.

Project description:The single-crystal X-ray diffraction structure of the title compound, [SnCl(C6H5)3]·C18H21OP, is reported. The 1:1 cocrystal features a short and directional tetrel bond between tin and oxygen. The tin-oxygen distance is 2.346 (4) Å, representing 62% of the sum of the van der Waals radii of Sn and O. The Cl-Sn⋯O angle is 174.0 (1)° and this nearly linear arrangement is consistent with a tetrel bond formed via a σ-hole opposite the tin-chlorine covalent bond. Some weak C-H⋯Cl inter-actions are noted between adjacent mol-ecules.

In the crystal, inter-molecular N-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into an infinite chain along the b axis.

Project description:The title mol-ecular salt, C15H22N(+)·Cl(-), arose as an unexpected product of the reaction between aniline and melanol in the presence of HCl. The central heterocyclic ring has a half-chair conformation and the five-membered ring has an envelope conformation, with the C atom linked to the N atom as the flap. In the crystal, the ions are linked by N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, generating chains propagating in the [100] direction. The crystal studied was a merohedral twin with a 0.64 (3):0.36 (3) domain ratio.

Project description:We have determined the crystal structures of two deca-chloro-cyclo-penta-silanes, namely bis-(tetra-n-butyl-ammonium) dichloride deca-chloro-cyclo-penta-silane di-chloro-methane disolvate, 2C16H36N+·2Cl-·Si5Cl10·2CH2Cl2, (I), and bis-(tetra-ethyl-ammonium) dichloride deca-chloro-cyclo-penta-silane di-chloro-methane disolvate, 2C8H20N+·2Cl-·Si5Cl10·2CH2Cl2, (II), both of which crystallize with discrete cations, anions, and solvent mol-ecules. In (I), the complete deca-chloro-cyclo-penta-silane ring is generated by a crystallographic twofold rotation axis. In (II), one cation is located on a general position and the other two are disordered about centres of inversion. These are the first structures featuring the structural motif of a five-membered cyclo-penta-silane ring coordinated from both sides by a chloride ion. The extended structures of (I) and (II) feature numerous C-H⋯Cl inter-actions. In (II), the N atoms are located on centres of inversion and as a result, the ethyl-ene chains are disordered over equally occupied orientations.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title salt, C20H44N44+·4Cl-·4H2O, has been determined using synchrotron radiation at 220 K. The structure determination reveals that protonation has occurred at all four amine N atoms. The asymmetric unit contains one half-cation (completed by crystallographic inversion symmetry), two chloride anions and two water mol-ecules. There are two mol-ecules in the unit cell. The Cl- anions and hydrate mol-ecules are involved in hydrogen bonding. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter-molecular hydrogen bonds involving the macrocycle N-H groups and water O-H groups as donors and the O atoms of the water mol-ecules and the Cl- anions as acceptors, giving rise to a three-dimensional network.
