Imidazo[1,2-b]isoquinoline-5,10-dione.

ABSTRACT: The title butterfly-shaped mol-ecule, C(11)H(6)N(2)O(2), is folded slightly along the O=C⋯C=O line, the dihedral angle between the two parts being 6.42 (3)°. In the crystal, adjacent mol-ecules are linked through C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into infinite layers parallel to the ac plane. The layers are further connected into a three-dimensional netweork via π-π inter-actions formed between pairs of anti-parallel arranged mol-ecules, with a centroid-centroid distance between the central six-membered ring and the benzene ring of 3.4349 (9) Å.

Project description:The title compound, C(21)H(21)N(3)O(2), was obtained following a five-step synthetic procedure yielding weakly diffracting rod and needle-shaped crystals which crystallized concomitantly. Structural analysis of a rod-shaped crystal showed that the central seven-membered heterocyclic ring adopts a conformation that is perhaps best described as a distorted boat, with the H-bearing (CH(2) and NH) atoms lying well out of the least-squares mean plane fitted through the other five atoms in the ring (r.m.s. deviation 0.075 Å). In the crystal, the compound packs as a twisted chain, which propagates along the b axis by means of an R(1) (2)(6) motif formed by one of the carbonyl O atoms acting as a bifurcated acceptor in an N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O inter-action. No diffraction was observed from the needle-shaped crystals.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, C(23)H(21)N(3)O(2)S, all ring atoms of the imidazo[1,2-a]benzothieno[3,2-d]pyrimidine system are essentially coplanar and the phenyl ring is twisted with respect to it [dihedral angle = 72.60 (9)°]. The crystal packing is mainly governed by C-H⋯π hydrogen bonds and inter-molecular π-π inter-actions, with inter-planar distances of 3.54 (1) and 3.56 (1) Å, and with distances between adjacent ring centroids of 3.72 (1) and 3.80 (1) Å. The three terminal C atoms of the butyl group are disordered over two positions; the site occupancy factors are ca 0.6 and 0.4.

The furan ring plane and the plane through all atoms are inclined at 23.88 (1)°. In the crystal structure, weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds form sheets in the bc plane and columns down the c axis.

Project description:The title compound, C(18)H(12)N(2)O, comprises two aromatic fragments, viz., imidazo[2,1-a]isoquinoline and benzene, linked by oxygen and methyl-ene bridges. Despite the absence of a common conjugative system within the mol-ecule, it adopts an essentially planar conformation with an r.m.s. deviation of 0. 036 Å. In the crystal, due to this structure, mol-ecules form stacks along the b axis by π⋯π stacking inter-actions, with shortest C⋯C distances in the range 3.340 (4)-3.510 (4) Å. The mol-ecules are bound by inter-molecular C-H⋯O inter-actions within the stacks and C-H⋯π inter-actions between the stacks.

2-Sulfanylidene-1,3-dithiolo[4,5-b]naphtho-[2,3-e][1,4]dithiine-5,10-dione.

Project description:The title mol-ecule, C(13)H(4)O(2)S(5), is folded by 47.83 (6)° along the S⋯S vector of the [1,4]dithiine six-membered ring, with the naphtho-quinone and [1,3]dithiole-2-thione moieties being nearly planar [largest deviations from least-squares planes = 0.028 (2) and 0.016 (1) Å, respectively]. This boat conformation is close to that observed in the analogous compound [Mendez-Rojas et al. (2001). J. Chem. Crystallogr.31, 17-28] including a 2-oxo group [folding angle: 42.3 (1)° at 213 (2) K]. Both compounds are indeed isomorphous, and the small difference in the folding angle probably results from the involvement of the thioxo group of the title compound in inter-molecular S⋯S contacts [3.5761 (13) Å]. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are stacked in the [100] direction, with dithiole rings making π-π inter-actions. In a stack, alternating short and long separations are observed between the centroids of dithiole rings, 3.5254 (17) and 4.7010 (18) Å.

Benzo[de]isoquinoline-1,3-dione condensed asymmetric azaacenes as strong acceptors.

Project description:We have designed and synthesized three novel benzo[de]isoquinoline-1,3-dione (BQD) condensed asymmetric azaacenes, BQD-TZ, BQD-AP and BQD-PA, with different end groups of 1,2,5-thiadiazole, acenaphthylene and phenanthrene. The triisopropylsilylethynyl groups were grafted to increase the solubility and crystallinity of the three molecules. These molecules have high electron affinity values of 3.87, 3.69 and 3.74 eV for BQD-TZ, BQD-AP and BQD-PA, respectively as confirmed by cyclic voltammetry measurements. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction revealed that these molecules have strong π-π stacking with distances of 3.31-3.41 Å and different stacking arrangements.

(E)-1,2-Bis(4-fluoro-phen-yl)ethane-1,2-dione.

Project description:The title compound, C(14)H(8)F(2)O(2), is a substituted benzil with an s-trans conformation of the dicarbonyl unit. This conformation is also shown by the O-C-C-O torsion angle of -110.65 (12)°. An unusual feature of the structure is the length, 1.536 (2) Å, of the central C-C bond connecting the carbonyl units, which is significantly longer than a normal Csp(2)-Csp(2) single bond. This is probably the result of decreasing the unfavourable vicinal dipole-dipole inter-actions by increasing the distance between the two electronegative O atoms [O⋯O = 3.1867 (12) Å] and allowing orbital overlap of the dione with the π system of the benzene rings. The dihedral angle between the aromatic rings is 64.74 (5)°. In the crystal structure, neighbouring mol-ecules are linked together by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O (× 2) hydrogen bonds. In addition, the crystal structure is further stabilized by inter-molecular π-π inter-actions with centroid-centroid distances in the range 3.6416 (6)-3.7150 (7) Å.

Project description:In the mol-ecule of the title compound, C(16)H(14)O(2), a substituted benzil, the dicarbonyl unit has an s-trans conformation. This conformation is substanti-ated by the O-C-C-O torsion angle of 108.16 (15)°. The dihedral angle between the two aromatic rings is 72.00 (6)°. In the crystal structure, neighbouring mol-ecules are linked together by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and weak inter-molecular C-H⋯π inter-actions. In addition, the crystal structure is further stabilized by inter-molecular π-π inter-actions with centroid-centroid distances in the range 3.6000 (8)-3.8341 (8) Å.
