C/EBPβ is an auto-repressed protein that becomes post-translationally activated by Ras-MEK-ERK signalling. C/EBPβ is required for oncogene-induced senescence (OIS) of primary fibroblasts, but also displays pro-oncogenic functions in many tumour cells.
