Catena-Poly[[diaquaterbium(III)]-tetrakis(?(2)-pyridine-4-carboxylato-?O:O')-[diaquaterbium(III)]-bis(?(2)-pyridine-4-carboxylato-?O:O')].

ABSTRACT: The title complex, [Tb(2)(C(6)H(4)NO(2))(6)(H(2)O)(4)](n), was isolated under hydro-thermal conditions using the ligand pyridine-4-carb-oxy-lic acid (HL) and Tb(2)O(3). The deprotonated L(2-) ligands adopt bridging coordination modes. The central Tb(III) atom is bridged by L(2-) ligands, forming a polymeric chain parallel to the a axis. Supra-molecular O-H?N inter-actions link the chains, building up a layer parallel to (010). O-H?O hydrogen bonds also occur. Two of the pyridine rings are disordered by rotation around the central C-N direction with occupancy ratios of 0.53?(1):0.47?(1).

Project description:The environment of the Co(II) ion in the title compound, [Co(SO(4))(C(6)H(7)N)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), exhibits an octa-hedral configuration with the two 3-methyl-pyridine ligands lying in cis positions with respect to each other and trans to the two coordinated water mol-ecules. The axial positions are occupied by O atoms of the sulfate ions. Co and S atoms occupy special positions (twofold axis, Wyckoff position 4c). Neighboring Co(II) ions are covalently connected with each other through the sulfate ions, thus creating infinite polymeric chains that run along the c axis. The water mol-ecules are connected with neighboring sulfate ions through strong O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. Intra-molecular hydrogen bonds parallel to the propagation direction of the chains stabilize the polymeric chains, and inter-molecular hydrogen bonds between chains connect neighboring chains with each other, thus leading to polymeric double chains.

Project description:The polymeric structure of the title compound {[Li(C(6)H(3)N(2)O(4))(H(2)O)]·H(2)O}(n), contains two symmetry-independent Li(I) complex units, both having distorted trigonal-bipyramidal coordination environments. The Li(I) ions are bridged by both the N and O atoms of the ligands, generating two symmetry-independent polymeric chains propagating along the b-axis direction. In both ligands, the second carboxyl-ato O atom remains protonated, serving as a donor in a short intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond. The coordination of each Li(I) ion is completed by a water O atom. The metal atoms are surrounded by eight O atoms in a square-anti-prismatic environment. There are two independent formula units in the asymmetric unit. The S atoms of two of the four DMSO mol-ecules are disordered in a 0.926 (3):0.074 (3) ratio.

Project description:The title compound [Cu(2)(C(6)H(3)BrNO(2))(4)](n), forms sheets in the bc plane. The structure features the dinuclear paddle-wheel cage motif common to copper(II) carboxyl-ates. The polymeric structure is achieved through bridging between binuclear units by the pyridyl donors of two of the four carboxyl-ates of the cage. Each cage engages in axial bonding at each copper atom to a pyridyl nitro-gen donor and extends two 5-bromo-pyridine-3-carboxyl-ate groups to bridge to adjacent binuclear sites in the bc plane. Each cage is linked to four adjacent cages in the plane. The intra-dimer Cu⋯Cu distance is 2.6465 (5) Å. The remaining 5-bromo-pyridine-3-carboxyl-ate groups project into the inter-lamellar domain and inter-digitate in pairs from each neighboring layer.
