ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(16)H(11)ClO, the dihedral angle between the almost planar dihydro-indene ring system (r.m.s. deviation = 0.009 Å) and the chloro-benzene ring is 3.51 (14)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are connected by C-H⋯O and weak C-H⋯Cl inter-actions, forming infinite layers parallel to (101).
