ABSTRACT: In the title mol-ecule, C(18)H(13)N(3)O(4), the hy-droxy group is involved in the formation of an intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond. The dihedral angle between the planes of the benzene ring and the naphthyl ring system is 9.0 (2)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked through N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into chains along the c axis.

Project description:There are three independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(19)H(16)N(2)O(3), in which the dihedral angles between the naphthalene ring system and the benzene ring are 7.52 (16), 18.15 (18), and 13.9 (2)°. All the mol-ecules exist in the trans configuration with respect to the methyl-idene units. In each mol-ecule there is one O-H⋯N and one N-H⋯O intra-molecular hydrogen bond. In the crystal, two of the mol-ecules are linked via a bifurcated N-H⋯(O,O) hydrogen bond. All three mol-ecules are further linked via C-H⋯O inter-actions.

Each mol-ecule assumes an E configuration with respect to the methyl-idene unit. Intra-molecular O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds are present in each mol-ecule and they are linked by an O-H⋯O hydrogen bond. The dihedral angles between the mean planes of the two benzene rings are 4.45 (16) and 1.7 (2)° in the two mol-ecules. Project description:The title mol-ecule, C(14)H(11)N(3)O(4), is approximately planar, with an inter-planar angle between the two benzene rings of 5.8 (2)°. In the crystal, four mol-ecules are linked by an R(4) (4)(12) motif with pairs of strong O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The motif is situated about the crystallographic centres of symmetry and it is composed of two pairs of parallel mol-ecules. This quadruplet of mol-ecules is further extended by symmetry-equivalent hydrogen bonds to form layers parallel to the (10) plane. In addition to the hydrogen bonds, there is also a weak π-π inter-action between the benzene rings.

In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked via N-H⋯O, O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, generating sheets parallel to the bc plane.
