Catena-Poly[[[diaqua-manganese(II)]-bis-[μ-1,3-bis-(1H-imidazol-1-ylmeth-yl)benzene-κN:N]] dinitrate].

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, {[Mn(C(14)H(14)N(4))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](NO(3))(2)}(n), the Mn(II) ion is located on an inversion center and is coordinated by four N atoms from four 1,3-bis-(1H-imidazol-1-ylmeth-yl)benzene (L) ligands and two water mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. Two L ligands are related by a centre of symmetry and bridge Mn(II) ions, forming a positively charged polymeric chain in [101]. Uncoordinated nitrate anions further link these chains into layers parallel to the ac plane via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title coordination compound, {[Zn(C(14)H(14)N(4))(2)](NO(3))(2)·CH(3)OH}(n), the cationic complex forms a looped chain containing 24-membered M(2)L(2) rings. The ligand adopts two distinct conformations that are alternated in subsequent loops. The Zn(II) ion displays a slightly distorted tetra-hedral geometry being coordinated by four N atoms from four 1,3-bis-(imidazol-1-ylmeth-yl)benzene ligands. The nitrate ions and methanol solvent mol-ecules are located between adjacent double-stranded chains and participate in an extensive net of O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The resulting three-dimensional assembly is further stabilized by π-π inter-actions between benzene rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.878 (2) and 3.853 (2) Å].

Project description:A novel metal-organic framework based on 1,3-bis-(imidazol-1-ylmeth-yl)benzene (1,3-bimb), [Cd(NO(3))(2)(C(14)H(14)N(4))(2)](n), has been synthesized hydro-thermally. The structure exhibits a two-dimensional metal-organic (4,4)-net composed of Cd(II) atoms and bimb ligands, and such layers are further joined through inter-layer C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds to generate a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

Project description:In the polymeric title complex, {[Mn(C(8)H(4)O(4))(C(7)H(6)N(2))(H(2)O)(2)]·2H(2)O}(n), the Mn(II) cation is coordinated by two benzene-dicarboxyl-ate anions, one benzimidazole ligand and two water mol-ecules in a distorted MnNO(5) octa-hedral geometry. In the crystal, each benzene-dicarboxyl-ate anion bridges adjacent Mn(II) cations through the terminal carboxyl-ate groups, forming a polymeric complex chain along the a axis. One Mn-O(carboxyl-ate) bond is much longer than the others. In the crystal, π-π stacking is observed between nearly parallel [dihedral angle = 4.32 (6)°] benzimidazole aromatic ring systems of adjacent mol-ecules, the centroid-centroid distance between the imidazole and benzene rings being 3.5421 (11) Å. Extensive inter-molecular O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonding is present in the crystal structure. The two lattice water mol-ecules are located on twofold rotation axes.

Project description:The title Cu(II) coordination polymer, {[Cu(C(7)H(10)N(6))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](NO(3))(2)·H(2)O}(n), was obtained by the reaction of equimolar Cu(NO(3))(2)·4H(2)O and 1,3-bis-(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)propane (btp) in a water-methanol solvent. The Cu(II) atom is located on a centre of inversion and has an elongated octa-hedral coordination geometry formed by four N atoms from four symmetry-related btp ligands and two coordinated water mol-ecules. Adjacent Cu(II) atoms are connected by btp ligands, generating a double-stranded chain. The nitrate anion is disordered over two positions in a 0.828 (7):0.172 (2) ratio.

Project description:The reaction of 1,4-bis-(4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-2-yl)benzene (bib) with silver(I) nitrate in a 1:1 molar ratio generates the metallacyclic title complex, [Ag(2)(C(12)H(14)N(4))(2)](NO(3))(2)·2H(2)O, in which the bib ligand displays a cis configuration. Each bib ligand acts as a bidentate bridging ligand connecting a pair of Ag(I) ions to form a [2 + 2] metallamacrocycle in which the Ag⋯Ag distance is 6.77 (2) Å. Each Ag(I) ion has weak contacts (2.91 Å) with the nitrate anion. The uncoordinated water mol-ecules make hydrogen bonds with nitrate O atoms, forming chains. The H atoms attached to the uncoordinated nitro-gen inter-act with these chains through N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming layers parallel to the (11) plane.

The asymmetric unit consists of one manganese(II) cation, located on a centre of inversion, as well as one seleno-cyanate anion, one water mol-ecule and one pyrimidine ligand in general positions. The crystal structure consists of discrete building blocks of composition [Mn(NCSe)(2)(pyrimidine)(2)(H(2)O)(2)], which are connected into layers parallel to (101) by strong water-pyrimidine O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds.
