ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [Ni(C(10)H(6)NO(2))(2)(CH(3)OH)(2)], the Ni(II) ion lies on an inversion center and is coordinated by two quinoline-2-carboxyl-ate ligands in the equatorial sites and two axial methanol ligands, forming a distorted octa-hedral environment. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into a two-dimensional network parallel to (10[Formula: see text]).

Project description:The title compound, [Mn(C(10)H(6)NO(2))(2)(CH(4)O)(2)], was obtained unintentionally as the product of an attempt to synthesize a polynuclear carboxyl-ate bridged manganese(III/IV) complex, using methanol to reduce the permanganate ion. The mol-ecule is centrosymmetric; the pairs of equivalent ligands coordinate trans to each other in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. Intra-molecular C-H⋯O bonds lying in the equatorial plane stabilize the mol-ecule. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, creating a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure. π-π and C-H⋯π inter-actions are also observed. The dihedral angle and centroid-to-centroid distance between the pyridine ring (A) and the benzene ring (B(i)) of a symmetrically related mol-ecule [symmetry code: (i) -1 - x, -y, -z] are 1.27 (11)° and 3.974 (2) Å, respectively. For the C-H⋯π inter-actions, the relevant distances and angles are: C⋯Cg[A(ii)] = 3.643 (2) Å, H⋯Cg[A(ii)] = 2.750 (2) Å and C-H⋯Cg[A(ii)] = 155 (1)° [symmetry code: (ii) x, -1 + y, z].

Project description:The dinuclear title compound, [Pb(2)(C(10)H(6)NO(2))(2)(CH(3)COO)(2)(CH(3)OH)(2)], lies across an inversion center. The methanol-coordinated Pb(II) atom is chelated by the acetate anion as well as by the quinoline-2-carboxyl-ate anion. One O atom of the quinoline-2-carboxyl-ate anion bridges two symmetry-related Pb(II) atoms, forming the dinuclear compound. Aside from the six atoms connected to the Pb(II) atom by regular coordination bonds, the structure features a long Pb⋯O inter-action [3.145 (3) Å] that gives rise to a distorted Ψ-square-anti-prismatic geometry at the metal center. The H atom of the methanol is hydrogen bonded to an O atom of the acetate.

The Co(II) atom displays a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry, provided by the O atoms of two monodentate ferrocene-carboxyl-ate anions and by the N and O atoms of two 2-pyridyl-methanol mol-ecule. The mol-ecular conformation is stabilized by intra-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title Ni(II) complex, [Ni(C(6)H(4)NO(3))(2)(C(3)H(4)N(2))(2)], the Ni(II) atom is located on a twofold rotation axis and is chelated by two oxidopyridiniumcarboxyl-ate anions and further cis-coordinated by two imidazole ligands in a distorted cis-N(2)O(4) octa-hedral geometry. The C-O bond distance of 1.2573 (19) Å found for the non-coordinating O atom of the carboxyl-ate group indicates significant delocalization of π-electron density over this residue. Similarly, the C-O bond distance of 1.260 (2) Å in the heteroaromatic ring indicates delocalization between the deprotonated hydr-oxy group and the pyridinium ring. The uncoordinated carboxyl-ate O atom links with the imidazole and pyridinium rings of adjacent mol-ecules via N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding, leading to a two-dimensional array parallel to (100).

Two longer Pb⋯O inter-actions distort the geometry towards a Ψ-square-anti-prism. Inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules.

Project description:The Pb(II) atom in the title compound, [Pb(C(10)H(6)NO(2))(2)], is N,O-chelated by two quinoline-2-carboxyl-ate anions in a distorted Ψ-trigonal-bipyramidal environment; four atoms are connected to the Pb(II) atom by regular coordination bonds. The structure also features two somewhat long Pb⋯O inter-actions [2.952 (3) and 3.014 (3) Å]. These long inter-actions give rise to a layer coordination polymer having the lead atom in a distorted Ψ-monocapped octa-hedral geometry.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Ni(NCS)(2)(C(7)H(7)NO)(2)(CH(3)OH)(2)], the Ni(2+) cations are coordinated by two thio-cyanate anions, two 3-acetyl-pyridine ligands and two methanol mol-ecules within slightly distorted NiN(4)O(2) octa-hedra. The asymmetric unit consists of one Ni(2+) cation, which is located on a center of inversion, as well as one thio-cyanate anion, one 3-acetyl-pyridine ligand and one methanol mol-ecule in general positions. Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, [Cu(C(10)H(6)NO(2))(C(7)H(5)O(2))(C(10)H(7)NO(2))], contains copper(II) ions five-coordinated in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal environment. The equatorial plane is occupied by three O atoms, one from the carboxyl-ate group of the benzoate ion considered as occupying a single coordination site, the other two from two carboxyl-ate groups of the quinaldic acid and quinaldate ligands. The axial positions are occupied by the N atoms of the quinoline ring system. The metal ion lies on a twofold axis that bisects the benzoate ion. The quinaldate and quinaldic acid ligands are equivalent by symmetry, and the carboxyl-ate/carboxyl groups are disordered. The disordered H atom is shared between the carboxyl-ate groups of adjacent quinaldic acid mol-ecules. Such hydrogen bonds delineate zigzag chains that run along the c axis. The structure is very similar to that of the Mn(II) analog.
