μ-Oxido-bis-[bis-(phenanthroline-κN,N')(sulfato-κO)iron(III)] octa-hydrate.

ABSTRACT: The title complex, [Fe(2)O(SO(4))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(4)]·8H(2)O, contains two unique Fe(III) cations, one oxide anion, four 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligands, two coordinated sulfate anions and eight lattice water mol-ecules. Each Fe(III) ion has an approximate octa-hedral geometry, coordinated by four N atoms from two phen mol-ecules, two O atoms from oxide and sulfate anions, respectively. The parallel phen mol-ecules form two-dimensional supermolecules through π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.684 (3), 3.711 (3), 3.790 (3), 3.847 (3), 3.746 (3), 3.732 (3) and 3.729 (3) Å]. This architecture is further stabilized by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the lattice water mol-ecules and sulfate O atoms.

Project description:In the title dinuclear In(III) compound, [In(2)(SO(4))(3)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·2H(2)O, each In(III) cation is coordinated by a 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligand, a water mol-ecule and three sulfate O atoms in a distorted InN(2)O(4) octa-hedral geometry. Three sulfate anions bridge two In(III) cations, forming the dinuclear entities. O-H⋯O and weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding is observed in the crystal structure. The crystal structure is further consolidated by π-π stacking between nearly parallel phen ring systems [dihedral angle = 4.2 (4)°], the centroid-centroid distance between benzene rings of adjacent phen ligands being 3.528 (9) Å.

Project description:The title compound, [Fe(C(12)H(8)N(2))(3)][Fe(2)Cl(6)O]·0.5CH(3)CH(2)OH, consists of one [Fe(phen)(3)](2+) cation (phen = 1,10-phen-anthroline), one [Fe(2)Cl(6)O](2-) anion and one half-mol-ecule of ethanol. In the cation, the Fe(II) atom is coordinated by six N atoms from three phen ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. In the bent anion, two Fe(III) atoms are connected by a bridging oxide O atom [bridging angle = 160.6 (4)°], and each Fe(III) atom is also coordinated by three Cl atoms, completing a distorted tetra-hedral geometry.

Project description:In the title binuclear complex, [Fe(2)(C(8)H(7)O(2))(4)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)], the Fe(II) ion is six-coordinated by three carboxylate O atoms from three 4-methyl-benzoate ligands, two N atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline ligands and one bridging aqua ligand in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The coordinated water mol-ecule acting as the bridging ligand is located on a twofold axes and the complex mol-ecule displays C(2) mol-ecular symmetry. The Fe⋯Fe separation in the binuclear complex is 3.490 (3) Å. The crystal structure is stabilized by hydrogen bonding and π-π stacking inter-actions [the centroid-centroid distance between adjacent 1,10-phenanthroline ring systems is 3.653 (2) Å, and that between the 1,10-phenanthroline ring system and the phenyl ring of the 4-methyl-benzoate unit of a neighbouring complex is 3.622 (3) Å].

Project description:In the centrosymmetric dinuclear title compound, [Co(2)(SO(4))(2)(C(13)H(8)N(4))(2)(H(2)O)(4)]·2H(2)O, the Co(II) atom is coord-in-ated by two N atoms from two 1H-imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline ligands, two O atoms from two sulfate anions and two O atoms from water mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The Co⋯Co separation is 5.1167 (7) Å. The coordinated and uncoordinated water mol-ecules engage in N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.

Project description:In the title compound, {[Fe(CHO(2))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)]·4H(2)O}(n), the Fe(II) ion is coordinated by two 4,4'-bipyridyl (4,4'-bpy) ligands, three formate ligands and one water molecule. The slightly distorted octahedral FeN(2)O(4) coordination results from the N atoms of two bridging 4,4'-bpy ligands, the O atoms of two bridging HCOO(-) anions of anti-anti mode, all in trans positions around the metal centre, and the O atoms of one terminal HCOO(-) anion and of one water molecule. The bridging formate ligands link the metal ions into chains that are further connected via 4,4'-bpy ligands into a framework structure. The three-dimensional structure is stabilized by extensive O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding. The crystals were twinned containing a 0.84:0.16 racemate.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(C(2)H(8)N(2))(3)](2)[SiMo(8)V(4)O(40)(VO)(2)]·6H(2)O, was prepared under hydro-thermal conditions. The asymmetric unit consists of a transition metal complex [Co(en)(3)](3+) cation (en is ethyl-enediamine), one half of an [SiMo(8)V(4)O(40)(VO)(2)](6-) heteropolyanion, two solvent water mol-ecules in general positions and two half-mol-ecules of water located on a mirror plane. In the complex cation, the Co(3+) ion is in a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment formed by six N atoms of the three chelating en ligands. One of the en ligands exhibits disorder of its aliphatic chain over two sets of sites of equal occupancy. The [SiMo(8)V(4)O(40)(VO)(2)](6-) heteropolyanion is a four-electron reduced bivanadyl-capped α-Keggin-type molybdenum-vanadium-oxide cluster. In the crystal, it is located on a mirror plane, which results in disorder of the central tetra-hedral SiO(4) group: the O atoms of this group occupy two sets of sites related by a mirror plane. Furthermore, all of the eight μ(2)-oxide groups are also disordered over two sets of sites with equal occupancy. There are extensive inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the complex cations and inorganic polyoxidoanions, leading to a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:The title compound, Rb(8)[W(2)O(4)(SO(4))(6)], was precipitated from a melt of tungsten(VI) oxide and rubidium sulfate in rubidium disulfate. The unit cell contains two discrete [{W(VI)O(2)(SO(4))(2)}(2)(μ-SO(4))(2)](8-) units connected by Rb-O coord-ination. The W atom is octahedrally surrounded by two oxide ligands, two terminal sulfate ligands and two bridging sulfate groups. One Rb atom is coordinated by eight O atoms, whereas the three other Rb atoms are coordinated by nine O atoms from sulfate and oxide groups, leading to distorted [RbO(x)] polyhedra.

Project description:In the title salt, [Fe(C(12)H(8)N(2))(3)][Fe(2)Cl(6)O], the ionic components are linked into a two-dimensional supra-molecular layer by two pairs of C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.655 (4) and 3.498 (3) Å]. The salt is characterized as a mixed-valent Fe(II)-Fe(III) compound, in which an Fe(II) atom is coordinated by three phen ligands, forming a six-coordinated cationic entity and the anionic part is formed by two Fe(III) atoms in tetra-hedral coordination environments constructed by three chloride ions and one bridging oxide ligand. Intra-molecular C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds are observed.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)](2)[W(6)O(19)], consists of two [Cu(phen)(2)](+) cations (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) and one typical [W(6)O(19)](2-) isopolyanion. The Cu(I) atom is coordinated by four N atoms from two bidentate chelating phen ligands in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The hexa-tungstate anion, lying on an inversion center and possessing the well known Lindqvist structure, is formed by six edge-sharing WO(6) octa-hedra, thus exhibiting an approximate O(h) symmetry. Three kinds of O atoms exist in the hexa-tungstate, viz. terminal O(a), bridging O(b) and central O(c) atoms. Besides the electrostatic effects between the anions and cations, weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds exist between the phen ligands and O(a) or O(b) atoms. The mean inter-planar distances of 3.485 (1) and 3.344 (1) Å indicate π-π stacking inter-actions between neighboring phen ligands. These weak hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking inter-actions lead to a two-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cd(SO(4))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)]·C(3)H(8)O(2), the Cd(II) atom has a distorted octa-hedral coordination composed of four N atoms from two chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligands and two O atoms from an O,O'-bidentate sulfate group. The two chelating NCCN groups subtend a dihedral angle of 82.21 (9)°. The Cd(II) ion, the S atom and the middle C atom of the propane-1,3-diol solvent mol-ecule are located on special positions, site symmetry 2. The solvate features a pair of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds with the uncoordinated O atoms of the sulfate ion. The OH group of the propane-1,3-diol solvent is disordered over two positions of equal occupancy.
