Tetra-μ3-iodido-tetra-kis-[(tri-n-butyl-phosphane-κP)copper(I)].

Project description:The title complex, [Cu4I4(C12H27P)4], crystallizes with six mol-ecules in the unit cell and with three independent one-third mol-ecule fragments, completed by application of the relevant symmetry operators, in the asymmetric unit. The tetranuclear copper core shows a tetrahedral geometry (site symmetry 3..). The I atoms also form a tetra-hedron, with I⋯I distances of 4.471 (1) Å. Both tetra-hedra show an orientation similar to that of a pair of self-dual platonic bodies. The edges of the I-tetra-hedral structure are capped to the face centers of the Cu-tetra-hedron and vice versa. The Cuface⋯I distances are 2.18 Å (averaged) and the Iface⋯Cu distances are 0.78 Å (averaged). As a geometric consequence of these properties there are eight distorted trigonal-bipyramidal polyhedra evident, wherein each trigonal face builds up the equatorial site and the opposite Cu⋯I positions form the axial site. As expected, the n-butyl moieties are highly flexible, resulting in large elongations of their anisotropic displacement parameters. Some C atoms of the n-butyl groups were needed to fix alternative discrete disordered positions.

Crystal structure of di-μ-iodido-bis-[(dimethyl sulfoxide-κO)(tri-phenyl-phosphane-κP)copper(I)].

Project description:The centrosymmetric dinuclear title compound, [Cu2I2(C2H6OS)2(C18H15P)2], represents the first example of a CuI complex ligated by an O-bound dimethyl sulfoxide ligand. In the crystal, the two tetrahedrally coordinated Cu(I) atoms are bridged by two μ2-iodido ligands in an almost symmetrical rhomboid geometry. The loose Cu⋯Cu contact of 2.9874 (8) Å is longer than the sum of the van der Waals radii of two Cu atoms (2.8 Å), excluding a significant cupriophilic inter-action in the actual dimer. C-H⋯O and C-H⋯I hydrogen bonding interactions as well as C-H⋯π(aryl) interactions stabilize the three-dimensional supramolecular network.

Crystal structures of three complexes of zinc chloride with tri-tert-butyl-phosphane.

Project description:Under anhydrous conditions and in the absence of a Lewis-base solvent, a zinc chloride complex with tri-tert-butyl-phosphane as the μ-bridged dimer is formed, viz. di-μ-chlorido-bis-[chlorido-bis-(tri-tert-butyl-phosphane)zinc], [ZnCl4(C12H27P)2], (1), which features a nearly square-shaped (ZnCl)2 cyclic core and whose Cl atoms inter-act weakly with C-H groups on the phosphane ligand. In the presence of THF, monomeric di-chlorido-(tetra-hydro-furan-κO)(tri-tert-butyl-phosphane-κP)zinc, [ZnCl2(C4H8O)(C12H27P)] or [P(tBu3)(THF)ZnCl2], (2), is formed. This slightly distorted tetra-hedral Zn complex has weak C-H⋯Cl inter-actions between the Cl atoms and phosphane and THF C-H groups. Under ambient conditions, the hydrolysed complex tri-tert-butyl-phospho-nium aqua-tri-chlorido-zincate 1,2-di-chloro-ethane monosolvate, (C12H28P)[ZnCl3(H2O)]·C2H4Cl2 or [HPtBu3](+) [(H2O)ZnCl3](-)·C2H4Cl2, (3), is formed. This complex forms chains of [(H2O)ZnCl3](-) anions from hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between the water H atoms and Cl atoms that propagate along the b axis.

trans-Iodido(pyrazinyl-κC(2))bis-(triphenyl-phosphane-κP)palladium(II).

Project description:There are two independent mol-ecules with similar configurations in the asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Pd(C(4)H(3)N(2))I(C(18)H(15)P)(2)]. In each mol-ecule, the geometry around the Pd atom is distorted square-planar, with the Pd atom displaced by 0.0549 (12) and 0.0734 (13) Å from the least-squares plane of the I-P-P-C atoms. The PPh(3) ligands are in trans positions, with P-Pd-P angles of 173.12 (4) and 170.29 (4)°, while the pyrazinyl ligands and I atoms, also trans to each other, form C-Pd-I angles of 179.38 (12) and 178.44 (12)°. In the crystal, C-H⋯π inter-actions occur, resulting in a three-dimensional supramolecular architecture.

Project description:In the title compound, [Pd2(C12H9)2I2(C18H15P)2], the dimeric complex mol-ecule lies about an inversion center. The Pd⋯I⋯Pd bridges are slightly asymmetric, with Pd-I distances of 2.6709 (6) and 2.7486 (7) Å. The metal atom has a slightly puckered square-planar CI2P environment, the largest deviation from the least-squares plane being 0.143 (8) Å.

trans-Tetra-carbonyl-bis-(tri-phenyl-phosphane-κP)molybdenum(0).

Project description:The well known title compound, trans-[Mo(C18H15P)2(CO)4], has not been studied previously by X-ray crystallography, unlike its cis isomer. The complex possesses crystallographically imposed inversion symmetry, with the Mo atom residing on an inversion centre (1a Wyckoff position). The two tri-phenyl-phosphane groups are arranged in a staggered orientation. Each of the phenyl groups exhibits significantly different Mo-P-C-C torsion angles ranging from 2.6 (2) to 179.4 (1)°, most likely due to steric inter-actions based upon their positions relative to the carbonyl ligands.

Project description:In the title compound, [RhCl(C(21)H(21)P)(2)(CO)], the coordination geometry around the Rh(I) atom is slightly distorted square-planar with the phosphane ligands in trans positions with respect to each other. The chloride and carbonyl ligands show positional disorder, and the Rh(I) atom lies on a center of inversion. The effective cone angle Θ(E) for the title compound is 169.0 (3)°. A triclinic polymorph of bis-(μ-di-tert-butyl-phosphanido)bis-[(di-tert-butyl-phosphane)palladium(I)].

Project description:A new polymorph of the title compound, [Pd(2)(C(8)H(18)P)(2)(C(8)H(19)P)(2)], has been found. It belongs to the triclinic P-1 space group, whereas the known form [Leoni, Sommovigo, Pasquali, Sabatino & Braga (1992 ▶), J. Organo-met. Chem.423, 263-270] crystallizes in the monoclinic C2/c space group. The title compound features a dinuclear palladium complex with a planar central Pd(2)(μ-P)(2) core (r.m.s. deviation = 0.003 Å). The Pd-Pd distance of 2.5988 (5) Å is within the range of a Pd(I)-Pd(I) bond. The mol-ecules of both polymorphs are located on a crystallographic centre of inversion. The mol-ecular conformations of the two polymorphs are essentially identical. The crystal packing patterns, on the other hand, are slightly different.

Project description:The crystal structures of two solvates of fac-tri-chlorido-tris-(tri-methyl-phosphane-κP)rhodium(III) are reported, i.e. one with water in the crystal lattice, fac-[RhCl3(Me3P)3]·H2O, and one with methanol in the crystal lattice, fac-[RhCl3(Me3P)3]·0.5CH3OH. These rhodium compounds exhibit distorted octahedral coordination spheres at the metal and are isotypic with the analogous iridium compounds previously reported by us [Merola et al. (2013 ▶). Polyhedron, 54, 67-73]. Comparison is made between the rhodium and iridium compounds, highlighting their isostructural relationships.
