ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(6)H(5)N(2) (+)·NO(3) (-), is a proton-transfer compound between 4-cyano-pyridine and nitric acid. In the asymmetric unit, the components are linked by a strong N-H⋯O hydrogen bond. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into a C(6) chain along [010] by C-H⋯O inter-actions.
