ABSTRACT: The three-dimensional coordination polymer, [Eu(2)(C(6)H(2)O(4)S)(3)(H(2)O)(4)](n), has been synthesized under hydro-thermal conditions. The asymmetric unit comprises one Eu(3+) cation, two aqua ligands and one and a half thiophene-2,5-dicarboxylate anions (the half-anion being completed by a twofold rotation axis). The Eu(3+) cation is eight-coordinated in a distorted dodeca-hedral geometry. The crystal structure features O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, {[Fe(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(2)(H(2)O)(6)]·4H(2)O}(n), there are two types of coordination for the Fe(II) atoms. One Fe(II) atom is in a distorted octa-hedral N(2)O(4) environment, with two chelating rings from the pyridine-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and two O atoms from the water mol-ecules, while the other is in a distorted octa-hedral O(6) environment with two O atoms from the pyridine-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and four O atoms from the water mol-ecules. Both Fe(II) atoms lie on crystallographic centers of symmetry. The complex possesses an infinite chain structure running along the [101] direction. These chains are inter-connected by the uncoordinated water mol-ecules through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The polymeric title compound, {(C(4)H(12)N(2))[Zn(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(2)(H(2)O)]·2H(2)O}(n), was obtained by the reaction of zinc(II) nitrate hexa-hydrate with the proton-transfer compound (pipzH(2))(py-2,5-dc) (where pipz is piperazine and py-2,5-dcH(2) is pyridine-2,5-dicarboxylic acid) in aqueous solution. Each Zn(II) atom is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by four O atoms and two N atoms from one water mol-ecule and two (py-2,5-dc)(2-) ligands, which also act as bridging ligands between Zn(II) atoms. π-π Stacking inter-actions between two aromatic rings of (py-2,5-dc)(2-) fragments, with centroid-centroid distances of 3.4747 (7) and 3.7081 (7) Å are observed. The crystal structure is stabilized by O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Li(4)(C(6)H(2)N(2)O(4))(2)(H(2)O)(6)](n), comprises two Li(+) ions bridged by a completely deprotonated pyrimidine-3,6-dicarboxyl-ate ligand and coordinated by two water mol-ecules; the asymmetric units related by an inversion operation create a structural unit which forms part of a two-dimensional polymeric structure parallel to (10-1). One of the Li(+) ions shows a distorted tetra-hedral arrangement involving two symmetry-related coordinating water mol-ecules and two carboxyl-ate O atoms. The other Li(+) ion is in distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry defined by N and O atoms of the ligands and a water mol-ecule. Water O atoms are proton donors to carboxyl-ate O atoms forming hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Na(4)Ni(C(8)H(3)O(7)S)(2)(H(2)O)(12)](n), the Ni(II) cation occupies an inversion centre and is coordinated by the carboxyl groups of the sulfoisophthalate trianions and water mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. Two independent Na(I) atoms are connected by the carboxyl and sulfonate groups of the sulfoisophthalate ligands anions and water mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The sulfoisophthalate ligands and coordinated water mol-ecules bridge the Ni(II) and Na(I) cations, forming a three-dimensional polymeric structure. Weak π-π stacking is present between parallel benzene rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.9349 (10) Å]. Extensive O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding helps to stabilize the crystal structure.

Project description:There are two independent La(III) cations in the polymeric title compound, {[La(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(3)(H(2)O)(4)]·2H(2)O}(n). One is nine-coordinated in an LaN(2)O(7) tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry formed by three pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anions and two water mol-ecules, while the other is ten-coordinated in an LaNO(9) bicapped square-anti-prismatic geometry formed by four pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anions and two water mol-ecules. The two La(III) cations are separated by a non-bonding distance of 5.026 (3) Å. The pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anions bridge the La(III) cations, forming a three-dimensional polymeric complex. The crystal structure contains extensive classical O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The crystal structure is further consolidated by π-π stacking between pyridine rings, the shortest centroid-centroid distance between parallel pyridine rings being 3.700 (5) Å.

Project description:The title compounds, [Ce2(C6H3SO4)2(C6H2SO4)2(CH3COOH)] n (1) and [Ce(CH3COO)(C6H2SO4)(H2O)] n (2) were synthesized by solvothermal reaction of Ce(NO3)3·6H2O with 2,5-thio-phenedi-carb-oxy-lic acid (H2TDC, C6H4SO4) and acetic acid in aceto-nitrile or ethanol/water, respectively. These compounds were obtained as single crystals among other crystalline phases. Both compounds belong to the family of three-dimensional coordination polymers. The asymmetric unit of 1 consists of two CeIII cations, two TDC2- dianions, two HTDC- anions and one acetic acid ligand, all of them located in general positions. The two CeIII cations are each coordinated by eight oxygen atoms in the form of distorted square anti-prisms. These are bridged by carboxyl-ate and carb-oxy-lic acid groups, forming mono-periodic hybrid inorganic building units (IBUs), which are connected into a three-dimensional network by the TDC2- and HTDC- ligands. Compound 2 has an asymmetric unit composed of one CeIII cation, one TDC2- dianion, one acetate anion and one water mol-ecule in general positions. The cerium atom is eightfold coordinated by oxygen atoms. Edge-sharing CeO8 polyhedra form a dinuclear IBU (Ce2O14). This IBU is bridged by six TDC2- linkers to nine other IBUs, forming a three-dimensional framework. Both title compounds exhibit additional O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. Powder X-ray diffraction shows that both compounds were not obtained as pure phases.

The Co(II) atom, located on an inversion centre, is coordinated by two carboxyl-ate groups of the sulfoisophthalate trianions and by four water mol-ecules in a distorted CoO(6) octa-hedral geometry. Two independent Na(I) atoms also have a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry formed by water, carboxyl-ate O and sulfonate O atoms. An extensive O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding network is present in the crystal structure, as well as weak π-π stacking [centroid-centroid distance = 3.9553 (11) Å].

Project description:In the title compound, {[Co(3)Lu(2)(C(5)H(2)N(2)O(4))(6)(H(2)O)(4)]·2H(2)O}(n), the Lu(III) ions are seven-coordinated in a monocapped trigonal prismatic coordination geometry by six O atoms from three imidazole-4,5-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and one water O atom. The Co(II) ions are six-coordinated in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry and exhibit two types of coordination environments. One Co(II) ion, located on an inversion center, is coordinated by two water O atoms as well as two O atoms and two N atoms from two imidazole-4,5-dicarboxyl-ate ligands. The other Co(II) ion is bonded to four O atoms and two N atoms from four imidazole-4,5-dicarboxyl-ate ligands. These metal coordination units are connected by bridging imidazole-4,5-dicarboxyl-ate ligands, generating a three-dimensional network. The crystal structure is further stabilized by N-H⋯O, O-H⋯O, and C-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between the water mol-ecules and the imidazole-4,5-dicarboxyl-ate ligands.

Project description:In the title coordination polymer, [Li(2)(C(6)H(2)N(2)O(2))(H(2)O)(2)](n) the pyrazine-2,5-dicarboxyl-ate dianionic ligand bridges two symmetry-independent Li(+) ions using both its N,O-chelating sites. The carboxyl-ate O atom of one of them also bridges to another Li(+) ion, while the second O atom of this group is bonded to another Li(+) ion. Two symmetry-independent water O atoms participate also in the bridging system, which gives rise to a polymeric three-dimensional framework. Both Li(+) ions show distorted trigonal-bipyramidal LiNO(4) coordination geometries, with the N atom in an axial site in both cases. The packing is consolidated by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, which occur between water mol-ecules as donors and carboxyl-ate O atoms as acceptors.
