3-{5-Eth-oxy-carbonyl-1-[3-(2-oxopyrrol-idin-1-yl)prop-yl]-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl}benzoic acid.

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(24)H(25)N(3)O(5), the eth-oxy group is disordered over two orientations in a 0.853 (14):0.147 (14) ratio. The benzimadazole ring system (r.m.s. deviation = 0.016 Å) makes a dihedral angle of 35.47 (7)° with the attached benzene ring. The pyrrolidine ring adopts an envelope conformation with a methyl-ene C atom as the flap. In the crystal, inversion dimers linked by pairs of O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds generate R(2) (2)(16) loops. C-H⋯O inter-actions link the dimers into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title salt, C(18)H(19)N(4)O(+)·PF(6) (-), the dihedral angle between the benzimidazolium and benzimidazole ring systems is 16.24 (2)°. In the cation, a π-π inter-action is observed between the imidazolium ring and the benzene ring of the benzimidazole ring system [centroid-centroid distance = 3.5713 (11) Å]. The PF(6) (-) ion is disordered over two sites, with occupancies of 0.895 (2) and 0.105 (2). In the crystal structure, pairs of N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds link the cations, forming centrosymmetric dimers. Two different hydrogen bonds involving the hydr-oxy group and the imidazole unit are present. An intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond links the hydr-oxy group of the side chain with the imidazole unit, forming a 12-membered ring, and an inter-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond links the mol-ecules, forming chains in the crystallographic b direction.

These hydrogen-bonded sheets are packed in the crystal with the formation of centrosymmetric voids of 25.5 Å(3), which are filled by the water mol-ecules.

The benzene ring of the 2-eth-oxy-phenol group is somewhat inclined to the benzimidazole ring plane by 28.03 (5)°. The dihedral angle between the benzene rings is 82.20 (9)°. Second monoclinic polymorph of 4-[(1H-benzimidazol-1-yl)meth-yl]benzoic acid.

Project description:Recently, we reported the first monoclinic [Kuai & Cheng (2011). Acta Cryst., E67, o2787] and the ortho-rhom-bic polymorph [Kuai & Cheng (2011). Acta Cryst., E67, o3014] of the title compound, C(15)H(12)N(2)O(2). Another monoclinic polymorph was obtained accidentally by the hydro-thermal reaction of the title compound with manganese chloride in the presence of potassium hydroxide at 413 K. The asymmetric unit consists of four independent mol-ecules. In the crystal, O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds link the independent mol-ecules into four separate chains parallel to the b axis.

In the mol-ecule, there are strong O-H⋯N and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. In the crystal, mol-ecules are connected by bifurcated O-H⋯(O,O) hydrogen bonds, forming chains propagating along [010].

Ortho-rhom-bic polymorph of 4-[(1H-benzimidazol-1-yl)meth-yl]benzoic acid.

Project description:We reported recently the first polymorph of the title compound [Kuai & Cheng (2011a ▶). Acta Cryst., E67, o2787]. A second polymorph of the title compound, C(15)H(12)N(2)O(2), was unexpectedly obtained by the hydro-thermal reaction of the title compound with manganese chloride in the presence of potassium hydroxide at 413 K. The benzimidazole ring system is almost planar, with a maximum deviation from the mean plane of 0.015 (2) Å. The benzimidazole and benzene rings are inclined at a dihedral angle of 79.00 (1)°. In the crystal, adjacent mol-ecules are connected through O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds into a one-dimensional chain along the [001] direction.
