Project description:In the title compound, [CuCl(2)(C(9)H(11)N(3)O)], the Cu(II) atom is in a distorted square-pyramidal CuCl(2)N(2)O coordination geometry. The tridentate acetohydrazide ligand chelates in a meridional fashion. The chloride ligand in the axial position forms a long Cu-Cl distance of 2.4892 (9) Å. In contrast, the Cu-Cl distance from the equatorial chloride ligand is much shorter [2.2110 (7) Å]. Inter-molecular N-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds link the complexes into a three-dimensional network.

The Zn(2+) cation is coordinated by the N,N',N''-tridentate Schiff base ligand, and by two thio-cyanate N atoms, forming a distorted ZnN(5) trigonal-bipyramidal geometry.

The O atom is in the basal plane, one of the azide N atoms is in the apical site and the Cu⋯Cu separation is 3.2365 (3) Å. A pair of intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds helps to establish the mol-ecular conformation.

In the crystal, N-H⋯O and N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into columns in [001]. The porous crystal packing is further stabilized via π-π inter-actions between the pyridine rings of neighbouring mol-ecules [centroid-centroid distance = 3.746 (3) Å] with voids of 270 Å(3).

In the crystal, O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds link the complex mol-ecules and the uncoordinated water mol-ecules into infinite chains along the a axis. The chains are further connected into a three-dimensional network via C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl inter-actions.

Two oxide O atoms occupy the axial positions. The azomethine C=N group and the Br atom are disordered over two positions in a 0.8356 (18):0.1644 (18) ratio. The ethyl-thiolyl group is disordered over three conformations in a 0.8356 (18):0.085 (6):0.079 (6) ratio, and the ethanol ligand is also disordered over three orientations in a 0.470 (16):0.277 (19):0.253 (18) ratio. In the crystal, mol-ecules form centrosymmetric dimers through hydrogen bonding between ethanol O-H donors and phenolate O-atom acceptors. Weak C-H⋯O inter-actions consolidate the crystal packing.

Project description:The reaction of cadmium acetate dihydrate with 2-acetyl-pyridine (4-phenyl-thio-semicarbazone) yielded the title compound, [Cd(C(14)H(13)N(4)S)(2)]. The Cd(II) atom is six-coordin-ated in a distorted octa-hedral environment by two deproton-ated thio-semicarbazone ligands acting in a tridentate chelating mode through two N and one S atoms, forming metalla-rings. In the crystal, mol-ecules are connected through inversion centers via pairs of N-H⋯S inter-actions, building a one-dimensional hydrogen-bonded polymer along [0-1-1].
