Bis(tetra-phenyl-phospho-nium) tetra-chlorido-cobaltate(II).

ABSTRACT: The title compound, (C24H20P)2[CoCl4], was prepared under hydro-thermal conditions. In the crystal, the tetra-phenyl-phospho-nium cations are linked by pairs of weak C-H⋯π inter-actions into supra-molecular dimers; the Co(II) cations lie on twofold rotation axes and the tetra-hedral [CoCl4](2-) anions are linked with the tetra-phenyl-phospho-nium cations via weak C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The complex title salt, (C21H20OP)2[CoCl4], is the reaction product of CoCl2 with acetonyltri-phenyl-phospho-nium chloride in aceto-nitrile. In the anion, the Co(II) atom exhibits a typical tetra-hedral environment, with Co-Cl distances ranging from 2.2721 (6) to 2.2901 (6) Å, and with Cl-Co-Cl angles ranging from 106.12 (2) to 112.24 (2)°. The two phospho-nium cations likewise show the expected tetra-hedral configuration, with P-C distances ranging from 1.785 (2) to 1.8059 (18) Å and C-P-C angles ranging from 106.98 (8) to 112.85 (15)°. The mol-ecules inter-act in the lattice mainly through Coulombic and van der Waals forces because there is no particular polarity to the charges carried by the cations or anion. In the crystal, the cations and anions are arranged in sheets parallel to (001).

Project description:The title compound, (C21H20OP)(C19H15N4)[CuCl4], was obtained by reacting CuCl2·2H2O with a mixture of one equivalent of acetonyltri-phenyl-phospho-nium chloride and one equivalent of 2,3,5-tri-phenyl-tetra-zolium chloride in aceto-nitrile. In the structure, the Cu centre in the dianion is bonded to four chloride ligands and adopts a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The phospho-nium cation likewise adopts the expected tetra-hedral geometry. The tetra-zolium ring forms dihedral angles of 77.68 (10), 26.85 (11) and 66.48 (10)° with the planes of the benzene rings of the substituent groups. In the crystal, weak C-H⋯Cl hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involving both cations and the anion give rise to a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, (C(6)H(16)N)(2)[CoCl(4)], is comprised of a tetrahedral [CoCl(4)](2-) anion and two independent triethyl-ammonium cations. The latter are featureless while the [CoCl(4)](2-) anion exhibits typical Co-Cl bond lengths [2.2428 (15)-2.2847 (16) Å] and a Cl-Co-Cl angular range of 107.58 (6)-112.73 (7)°. In the crystal, N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds between the two crystallographically independent cations and the [CoCl(4)](2-) anion generate discrete ion triplets. The two Co-Cl bonds involved in these inter-actions are slightly longer than the remaining two.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C(24)H(20)P)(2)[Pt(C(7)H(5)NO(2)S(3))(2)]·H(2)O, consists of two tetra-phenyl-phospho-nium cations, two half bis-[N-(phenyl-sulfon-yl)dithio-carbim-ato]platinate(II) dianions and one water mol-ecule. The anions are completed by crystallographic inversion symmetry associated with the central Pt(II) ion. The Pt(II) ion is doubly S,S'-chelated by two symmetry-related phenyl-sulfonyl-dithio-carbimate ligands, forming a slightly distorted square-planar configuration. Besides the electrostatic attraction between oppositely charged ions in the crystal packing, intra-molecular C-H⋯O and several inter-molecular C-H⋯O, C-H⋯N and O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between the cations, anions and water mol-ecules are observed.

In each cation, both phospho-nium groups lie on the same side of the plane of the central benzene ring. The tetra-fluoro-borate anions are involved in intensive thermal motion, thus some B-F bond lengths [range 1.329 (6) to 1.391 (6) Å] deviate significantly from their standard values.
