Crystal structure of iron(III) perchlorate nona-hydrate.

ABSTRACT: Since the discovery of perchlorate salts on Mars and the known occurrence of ferric salts in the regolith, there is a distinct possibility that the title compound could form on the surface of Mars. [Fe(H2O)6](ClO4)3·3H2O was crystallized from aqueous solutions at low temperatures according to the solid-liquid phase diagram. It consists of Fe(H2O)6 octa-hedra (point group symmetry -3.) and perchlorate anions (point group symmetry .2) as well as non-coordinating water mol-ecules, as part of a second hydrogen-bonded coordination sphere around the cation. The perchlorate appears to be slightly disordered, with major-minor component occupancies of 0.773?(9):0.227?(9).

The polyanion has approximate mm2 (C 2v ) symmetry. The two platinum-bound μ2-O atoms are protonated in the polyanion. The heteropolyanions form inversion-generated dimers, {[H2PtV9O28]2}(10-), held together by μ2-O-H⋯μ2-O and μ2-O-H⋯μ3-O hydrogen bonds. All K(+) cations are located on general positions of the space group P-1.

Crystal structure of hepta-guanidinium nona-hydrogen bis-[α-hexa-molybdoplatinate(IV)] hepta-hydrate.

Project description:The title compound, (CH6N3)7H9[PtMo6O24]2·7H2O, containing the well-known Anderson-type heteropolyoxomolybdate, was obtained by recrystallization of its powdered guanidinium salt. The protonated O atoms in the polyanion were confirmed by electron-density maps, inter-polyanion hydrogen bonds and bond-valance sums (BVS). The {[H4.5PtMo6O24]2}(7-) polyanion is the same as that already characterized in K7[H4.5PtMo6O24]2·11H2O [space group P-1; Lee & Joo (2010 ▶). Acta Cryst. E66, i8-i9]. The heteropolyanions form inversion-generated dimers, {[H4.5PtMo6O24]2}(7-), held together by each of the four μ3-O-H⋯μ1-O, two μ2-O-H⋯μ2-O hydrogen bonds and one centrosymmetric μ3-O-H-μ3-O hydrogen bond. The H atom of the centrosymmetric hydrogen bond is located on an inversion centre. One guanidinium ion and one water mol-ecule are equally disordered about a twofold rotation axis.

Crystal structure of tris-(ethyl-enedi-ammonium) hexasulfatopraseodymium(III) hexa-hydrate.

Project description:In the title salt, (C2H10N2)3[Pr2(SO4)6]·6H2O, the Pr(III) cation is surrounded ninefold by five sulfate groups (two monodentate and three chelating) and by one water mol-ecule [range of Pr-O bond lengths 2.383 (3) to 2.582 (3) Å]. The [Pr(SO4)5(H2O)] groups are arranged in sheets parallel to (010). Two crystal water mol-ecules and two ethyl-enedi-ammonium cations (one with point group symmetry -1) connect the sheets via O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds from weak up to medium strength into a three-dimensional framework structure.

Polymeric strontium ranelate nona-hydrate.

Project description:The title compound, poly[[μ-aqua-tetra-aqua{μ-5-[bis-(carboxyl-atometh-yl)amino]-3-carboxyl-atomethyl-4-cyano-thio-phene-2-carboxyl-ato}distrontium(II)] tetra-hydrate], [Sr(2)(C(12)H(6)N(2)O(8)S)(H(2)O)(5)]·3.79H(2)O, crystallizes with nine- and eight-coordinated Sr(2+) cations. They are bound to seven of the eight ranelate O atoms and five of the water mol-ecules. The SrO(8) and SrO(9) polyhedra are inter-connected by edge-sharing, forming hollow layers parallel to (011). The layers are, in turn, inter-connected by ranelate anions, forming a metal-organic framework (MOF) structure with channels along the a axis. The four water mol-ecules not coordinated to strontium are located in these channels and hydrogen bonded to each other and to the ranelates. Part of the water H atoms are disordered. The compound dehydrates very easily and 0.210 (4) water mol-ecules out of nine were lost during crystal mounting causing additional disorder in the water structure.

Crystal structure of anagyrine perchlorate.

Project description:The title mol-ecular salt, C15H21N2O(+)·ClO4 (-), crystallizes with four cations (A, B, C and D) and four anions in the chiral unit cell (space group P21). The alkaloid was isolated from the aerial parts of Genista Hispanica collected in the Samarkand region of Uzbekistan. Each cation is protonated at the N atom that bridges the alkaloid rings C and D. In each cation, ring A is almost planar and ring B adops a sofa conformation with the methyl-ene group bridging to the C ring as the flap. Rings C and D adopt chair conformations with a cis ring junction in all four cations. In the crystal, A+B and C+D dimeric pairs linked by pairs of N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds are observed, which generate R 2 (2)(16) loops in each case. The dimers are consolidated by weak aromatic π-π stacking inter-actions between the A rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.913 (3) and 3.915 (3) Å].

Synthesis, crystal structure and properties of μ-tetra-thio-anti-monato-bis-[(cyclam)zinc(II)] perchlorate 0.8-hydrate.

Project description:The reaction of Zn(ClO4)2·6H2O with Na3SbS4·9H2O in a water/aceto-nitrile mixture leads to the formation of the title compound, (μ-tetra-thio-anti-monato-κ2 S:S')bis-[(1,4,8,11-tetra-aza-cyclo-tetra-decane-κ4 N)zinc(II)] perchlorate 0.8-hydrate, [Zn2(SbS4)(C10H24N4)2]ClO4·0.8H2O or [(Zn-cyclam)2(SbS4)]+[ClO4]-·0.8H2O. The asymmetric unit consists of two crystallographically independent [SbS4]3- anions, two independent perchlorate anions and two independent water mol-ecules as well as four crystallographically independent Zn(cyclam)2+ cations that are located in general positions. Both perchlorate anions and one cyclam ligand are disordered and were refined with a split mode using restraints. The water mol-ecules are partially occupied. Two Zn(cyclam)2+ cations are linked via the [SbS4]3- anions into [Zn2(cyclam)2SbS4]+ cations that are charged-balanced by the [ClO4]- anions. The water mol-ecules of crystallization are hydrogen bonded to the [SbS4]3- anions. The cations, anions and water mol-ecules are linked by N-H⋯O, N-H⋯S and O-H⋯S hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional network. Powder X-ray diffraction proves that a pure sample had been obtained that was additionally investigated for its spectroscopic properties.

Project description:Nonavanadoplatinate [Pt(IV)V9O28](7-), which is the first heteropolyoxovanadate in the deca-vanadate framework, [V10O28](6-), has been investigated crystallographically. The title compound, Na9[H2Pt(IV)V9O28][H3Pt(IV)V9O28]·40H2O, was obtained by a hydro-thermal reaction at pH = 2. This compound contains two different protonated heteropolyoxovanadates, [H2Pt(IV)V9O28](5-) [polyanion (A)] and [H3Pt(IV)V9O28](7-) [polyanion (B)]. The locations of the H atoms on the protonated O atoms were observed in difference Fourier maps and confirmed by the inter-polyanion hydrogen bonds, bond-length elongation and bond-valence-sum (VBS) analysis. The two (Pt and V)-bound μ2-O atoms are protonated in both polyanions. The position of the third protonated O atom in polyanion (B) is an inter-esting feature of the structure, being located on one (V2)-bound μ2-O atom. The discrete heteropolyanions form a dimer, {H5[PtV9O28]2}(9-), through five inter-polyanion hydrogen bonds. Additional O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and interactions between Na(+) cations and water molecules as well as terminal O atoms of one of the polyanions consolidate the crystal packing.

Crystal structure of tin(II) perchlorate trihydrate.

Project description:The title compound, [Sn(H2O)3](ClO4)2, was synthesized by the redox reaction of copper(II) perchlorate hexa-hydrate and metallic tin in perchloric acid. Both the trigonal-pyramidal [Sn(H2O)3](2+) cations and tetra-hedral perchlorate anions lie on crystallographic threefold axes. In the crystal, the cations are linked to the anions by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, generating (001) sheets.

Project description:In the title compound, [Fe(C48H36N4)(C4H6N2)2]ClO4·1.5C4H8O, the iron(III) metal is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by four pyrrole N atoms of the porphyrin ligand in the equatorial plane and two N atoms of 2-methyl-imidazole ligands in the axial sites. The complex has a highly ruffled porphyrin core with mean absolute core-atom displacements C a, C b, C m and C av of 0.25 (5), 0.17 (12), 0.432 (16) and 0.25 (13) Å, respectively. One of the four phenyl groups of the porphyrin is disordered over two sets of sites with refined occupancy ratio of 0.718 (7):0.282 (7). The mean Fe-Np (Np is a porphyrin N atom) bond length [1.975 (9) Å] indicates the low-spin state of the iron atom. The two 2-methyl-imidazole ligands are nearly perpendicular and form a dihedral angle of 86.93 (10)°. The dihedral angles between the 2-methyl-imidazole ligands and the closest Fe-Np vector are 38.04 (9) and 35.00 (7)°. In the crystal, the complex cations inter-act with the perchlorate anions through N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming chains running parallel to [110].

Poly[[hexa-?-cyanido-manganese(II)iron(III)] penta-hydrate].

Project description:The structure of the title compound, Mn(II)[Fe(III)(CN)(6)](2/3)·5H(2)O, features a face-centered cubic -Mn-NC-Fe- framework with both Mn and Fe having site symmetry mm. Since one-third of the [Fe(CN)(6)](3-) units are missing for a given formula in order to maintain charge neutrality, each Mn atom around such a vacancy is coordinated not only by the N atoms of the CN groups but also by the O atoms of the ligand water mol-ecules. In addition to ligand water mol-ecules, two types of non-coordinated water mol-ecules, so-called zeolitic water mol-ecules, exist in the inter-stitial sites of the -Mn-NC-Fe- framework. The positions of the O atoms of the zeolitic water mol-ecules are fixed by the linkage via hydrogen bonds between ligand water and zeolitic water mol-ecules. The structure is related to a recently reported rubidium manganese hexa-cyano-ferrate. Site occupancy factors for Fe, C, N are 0.67; for two O atoms the value is 0.83 and for one O atom is 0.17.
