Crystal structure of (Z)-2-[(E)-2-benzyl-idene-hydrazin-1-yl-idene]-1,2-di-phenyl-ethanone.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, C21H16N2O, has an almost planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0074 Å) 1,2-di-benzyl-idenehydrazine backbone with an approximately orthogonal almost planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0368 Å) phenyl-ethanone substituent on one of the imine C atoms. The dihedral angle between the two mean planes is 76.99 (4)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked via C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and C-H⋯π contacts, forming a three-dimensional structure with mol-ecules stacked along the a-axis direction.

Project description:The title compound, C32H30N4O2S4, consists of two Schiff base moieties, namely two S-benzyl-β-N-(2-hy-droxy-phenyl-ethyl-idene)di-thio-carbazate groups, which are connected through an S-S single bond. These two moieties are twisted with respect to each other, with a dihedral angle of 87.88 (4)° between the S2C=N planes. A bifurcated intra-molecular O-H⋯(N,S) hydrogen bond is observed in each moiety. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by pairs of C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into inversion dimers. The dimers are further stacked in a column along the b axis through weak C-H⋯π inter-actions.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C16H12ClN3S, contains two independent mol-ecules whose conformations differ primarily in the orientations of the phenyl and chloro-benzene rings with respect to the thia-zole ring. In the first mol-ecule, the dihedral angles are 3.0 (1) and 9.2 (1)°, respectively, for the phenyl ring and the chloro-benzene ring, while in the second mol-ecule, the corresponding angles are 18.6 (1) and 23.4 (1)°. In the crystal, the two independent mol-ecules are associated via complementary N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds into a dimer. These dimers are associated through weak C-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯S inter-actions into supra-molecular chains propagating along the a-axis direction.

Project description:The title compound, C(23)H(16)N(2)OS, is not planar, the phenyl ring of the benzoyl group making a dihedral of 77.61 (7)° with the benzothio-phene system ring. The benzothio-phene system and the remaining phenyl ring make an angle of 12.71 (13)°. The conformation around the imine functions is E for the C=N bond towards the benzothio-phene system and Z for the C=N bond towards the benzoyl group. The packing of the mol-ecules shows C-H⋯π inter-actions. A weak intramolecular C-H⋯N bond also occurs.

In the crystal, zigzag supra-molecular chains along the c axis (glide symmetry) are formed via N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds. These associate along the b axis by π-π inter-actions between the fused and terminal benzene rings [inter-centroid distance = 3.602 (3) Å] so that layers form in the bc plane.

The dihedral angle between the planes of the phenyl rings in the di-phenyl-hydrazine groups is 88.52 (4)°. The 2-nitro-benzene ring shows a torsion angle of 10.17 (8)° with the C=N-N plane. A short intra-molecular C-H⋯O contact occurs. In the crystal, only van der Waals contacts occur between the mol-ecules.
