Cu-Catalyzed Transannulation Reaction of Pyridotriazoles with Terminal Alkynes under Aerobic Conditions: Efficient Synthesis of Indolizines.

ABSTRACT: The Cu(I)-catalyzed denitrogenative transannulation reaction of pyridotriazoles with terminal alkynes en route to indolizines was developed. Compared to the previously reported Rh-catalyzed transannulation reaction, this Cu-catalyzed method features aerobic conditions and much broader scope of pyridotriazoles and alkynes.

Co-Catalyzed Transannulation of Pyridotriazoles with Isothiocyanates and Xanthate Esters.

Project description:An efficient radical transannulation reaction of pyridotriazoles with isothiocyanates and xanthate esters was developed. This method features conversion of pyridotriazoles into two N-fused heterocyclic aromatic systems-imino-thiazolopyridines and oxo-thiazolopyridine derivatives-via one-step Co(II)-catalyzed transannulation reaction proceeding via a radical mechanism. The synthetic usefulness of the developed method was illustrated in the synthesis of amino acid derivatives and further transformations of obtained reaction products.

Borane-catalyzed selective dihydrosilylation of terminal alkynes: reaction development and mechanistic insight.

Project description:Here, we describe simple B(C6F5)3-catalyzed mono- and dihydrosilylation reactions of terminal alkynes by using a silane-tuned chemoselectivity strategy, affording vinylsilanes and unsymmetrical geminal bis(silanes). This strategy is applicable to the dihydrosilylation of both aliphatic and aryl terminal alkynes with different silane combinations. Gram-scale synthesis and conducting the reaction without the exclusion of air and moisture demonstrate the practicality of this methodology. The synthetic utility of the resulting products was further highlighted by the structural diversification of geminal bis(silanes) through transforming the secondary silane into other silyl groups. Comprehensive theoretical calculations combined with kinetical isotope labeling studies have shown that a prominent kinetic differentiation between the hydrosilylation of alkynes and vinylsilane is responsible for the chemoselective construction of unsymmetrical 1,1-bis(silanes).

Substrate-Controlled Product Divergence: Silver-Catalyzed Reaction of Trifluoromethyl Ketones with Terminal Alkynes.

Project description:A distinct dichotomy in product distribution was initially observed in the silver-catalyzed reaction of trifluoromethyl (CF3) ketones with terminal alkynes having two different types of electronic natures. The domino reaction smoothly proceeded almost exclusively with high stereoselectivity with terminal alkynes containing ester groups, whereas alkynylation occurred in good yield when terminal alkynes containing aryl or alkyl groups were present. The results indicated that the electronic nature of terminal alkynes can act as a switch that enables either the domino reaction or alkynylation between terminal alkynes and CF3 ketones.

Project description:The rhodium-catalyzed transannulation of N-perfluoroalkyl-1,2,3-triazoles with aromatic and aliphatic terminal alkynes under microwave heating conditions afforded N-perfluoroalkyl-3,4-disubstituted pyrroles (major products) and N-fluoroalkyl-2,4-disubstituted pyrroles (minor products). The observed selectivities in the case of the reactions with aliphatic alkynes were high.

Gold-catalyzed reaction of oxabicyclic alkenes with electron-deficient terminal alkynes to produce acrylate derivatives.

Project description:Oxabicyclic alkenes can react with electron-deficient terminal alkynes in the presence of a gold catalyst under mild conditions, affording the corresponding addition products in moderate yields. When using alkynyl esters as substrates, the (Z)-acrylate derivatives are obtained. Using but-3-yn-2-one (ethynyl ketone) as a substrate, the corresponding addition product is obtained with (E)-configuration. The proposed mechanism of these reactions is also discussed.
