Crystal structure of a new homochiral one-dimensional zincophosphate containing l-me-thio-nine.

ABSTRACT: catena-Poly[[(l-me-thio-nine-κO)zinc]-μ3-(hydrogen phosphato)-κ(3) O:O':O''], [Zn{PO3(OH)}(C5H11NO2S)] n , a new one-dimensional homochiral zincophos-phate, was hydro-thermally synthesized using l-me-thio-nine as a structure-directing agent. The compound consists of a network of ZnO4 and (HO)PO3 tetra-hedra that form ladder-like chains of edge-fused Zn2P2O4 rings propagating parallel to [100]. The chains are decorated on each side by zwitterionic l-me-thio-nine ligands, which inter-act with the inorganic framework via Zn-O coordination bonds. The structure displays inter-chain N-H⋯O and O-H⋯S hydrogen bonds.

Redetermined crystal structure of α-dl-me-thio-nine at 340 K.

Project description:Two forms, α and β, are known for the racemic amino acid dl-me-thio-nine, C5H11NO2S. The phase transition between them, taking place around 326 K, is associated with sliding at the central inter-faces of the hydro-phobic regions in the crystal, leaving the hydrogen-bonding pattern unperturbed. For the high-temperature α phase, only a structure of rather low quality has been available [R factor = 0.118, no H-atom coordinates; Taniguchi et al. (1980 ▶). Bull. Chem. Soc. Jpn, 53, 803-804]. We here present accurate structural data for this polymorph [R(F) = 0.049], which are compared with other related amino acid structures with similar properties. We report for the first time that the side chain of this phase has a minor disorder component [occupancy 0.0491 (18)] with a gauche+ rather than a gauche- conformation for the N-C-C-C group. In the crystal of the title compound, N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into (100) sheets.

Project description:The structure of β-dl-me-thio-nine, C5H11NO2S, in the space group C2/c, is here confirmed to be fully ordered all the way up to the phase transition at approximately 326 K, where displacive sliding of mol-ecular bilayers gives the disordered P21/c α form [data at 340 K; Görbitz (2014). Acta Cryst. E70, 341-343]. The geometry of hydrogen bonds in LD-LD hydrogen-bonding patterns [Görbitz et al. (2009). Acta Cryst. B65, 393-400] at the hydro-philic core of each mol-ecular bilayer are virtually unperturbed by the phase shift, but the C-C-S-C torsion angle of the side chain changes from trans at 320 K to gauche+ for the major conformation at 340 K.

In the crystal, the three-dimensional architecture features a combination of coumarin-thio-phene C-H⋯π and π-π [inter-centroid distance = 3.6612 (12) Å] inter-actions.

Project description:In the cation of the title salt, C6H7N2S(+)·SCN(-), the C=S bond is oriented trans with respect to the C-C=N fragment in the pyridine ring. The planes of the aromatic ring and the thio-amide fragment of the cation make a dihedral angle of 38.31 (4)°. In the crystal, the components are linked by N-H⋯S and N-H⋯N, hydrogen bonds, forming a two-dimensional network parallel to (10-1).

Crystal structure of a new polymorph of di(thio-phen-3-yl) ketone.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, C9H6OS2, represents a new polymorph. The crystal structure was solved in the ortho-rhom-bic space group Pbcn with one half of the mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit. The thio-phene rings are perfectly planar and twisted with respect to each other, showing the mol-ecule to be in an S,O-trans/S,O-trans conformation. In the crystal, C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds connect the mol-ecules into layers extending parallel to the ab plane. The crystal structure also features π-π inter-actions.

Crystal structure of strontium thio-sulfate monohydrate.

Project description:SrS2O3·H2O was obtained from an aqueous solution of Na2S2O3 and Sr(NO3)2 and crystallizes in space group P with all atoms at general positions. The Sr2+ ion exhibits an [8 + 1] coordination defined by two terminal S and six O atoms of thio-sulfate ions, one of the latter at a longer distance, and by one O atom of a water mol-ecule. Two thio-sulfate anions act as bidentate, four as monodentate ligands. The structure consists of mainly ionically inter-acting layers lying parallel to the crystallographic ab plane. The layers are connected by O-H⋯S and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds of moderate strength.

Crystal structure of 2-methyl-4-[(thio-phen-2-yl)methyl-idene]-1,3-oxazol-5(4H)-one.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C9H7NO2S, contains two crystallographically independent mol-ecules (A and B). Both mol-ecules are almost planar [maximum deviations = 0.047 (1) and 0.090 (1) Å, respectively, for the S atoms] with the oxazole and thio-phene rings being inclined to one another by 2.65 (16)° in mol-ecule A and by 4.55 (15)° in mol-ecule B. In the crystal, the individual mol-ecules are linked via C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming -A-B-A-B- chains along the [10-1] direction. The chains are linked via C-H⋯π and π-π inter-actions [inter-centroid distances = 3.767 (2) and 3.867 (2) Å] involving inversion-related oxazole and thio-phene rings in both mol-ecules, forming a three-dimensional structure.

Crystal structure of cyclo-hexyl-ammonium thio-cyanate.

Project description:In the title salt, C6H11NH3 (+)·SCN(-), the cyclo-hexyl-ammonium ring adopts a slightly distorted chair conformation. The ammonium group occupies an equatorial position to minimize 1,3 and 1,5 diaxial inter-actions. In the crystal, the components are linked by N-H⋯N and N-H⋯S hydrogen-bonding inter-actions, resulting in a three-dimensional network.

Crystal structure of bis-(thio-cyanato-κS)bis-(thio-urea-κS)mercury(II).

Project description:In the title complex, [Hg(NCS)2(CH4N2S)2], the Hg(II) atom is four-coordinated having an irregular four-coordinate geometry composed of four thione S atoms of two thio-cyanate groups and two thio-urea groups. The S-Hg-S angles are 172.02 (9)° for the trans-thio-cyanate S atoms and 90.14 (5)° for the cis-thio-urea S atoms. The mol-ecular structure is stabilized by an intra-molecular N-H⋯S hydrogen bond, which forms an S(6) ring motif. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by a number of N-H⋯N and N-H⋯S hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional framework. The first report of the crystal structure of this compound appeared in 1966 [Korczynski (1966 ▶). Rocz. Chem. 40, 547-569] with an extremely high R factor of 17.2%, and no mention of how the data were collected.
