Crystal structure of bis-(μ2-tetra-bromo-phthalato-κ(2) O (1):O (2))bis[aqua(N,N,N',N'-tetra-methyl-ethane-1,2-di-amine-κ(2) N,N')copper(II)].

ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [Cu2(C8Br4O4)2(C6H16N2)2(H2O)2], the Cu(II) cation is chelated by a tetra-methyl-ethane-1,2-di-amine ligand and coordinated by a water mol-ecule as well as bridged by two tetra-bromo-phthalate anions in a distorted O3N2 trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. The two symmetry-related tetra-bromo-phthalate anions bridge the two Cu(II) cations, forming a centrosymmetric dinuclear complex in which the Cu⋯Cu separation is 5.054 (2) Å. Intra-molecular classic O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds occur in the dinuclear mol-ecule. In the crystal, the mol-ecules are linked by weak C-H⋯Br and C-H⋯O inter-actions into supra-molecular chains propagating along the b-axis direction.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(SO4)(C10H8N2)(C2H6O2)(H2O)] n , contains two crystallographically unique Ni(II) atoms, each lying on a twofold rotation axis and having a slightly distorted octa-hedral environment. It is isotypic with the previously reported Cu(II) analog [Zhong et al. (2011 ▶). Acta Cryst. C67, m62-m64]. One Ni(II) atom is coordinated by two N atoms from two bridging 4,4'-bipyridine (4,4'-bipy) ligands, two O atoms from two sulfate ions and two aqua O atoms. The second Ni(II) atom is surrounded by two N atoms from 4,4'-bipy ligands and four O atoms, two from bridging sulfate ions and from two ethane-1,2-diol ligands. The sulfate anion acts as a bridging ligand, linking adjacent Ni(II) atoms, leading to the formation of linear ⋯Ni1-Ni2-Ni1-Ni2⋯ chains along the a-axis direction. Adjacent chains are further bridged by 4,4'-bipy ligands, resulting in a two-dimensional layered polymer parallel to (001). In the crystal, the polymeric layers are linked by extensive O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involving the O atoms of the water mol-ecules and the ethane-1,2-diol mol-ecules, resulting in a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:The title compound, [Na2(C6H18NSi2)2(C6H16N2)] n , was found to consist of dimeric [Na(NSiMe3)2] units with crystallographically imposed centrosymmetry based upon four-membered NaNNaN rings. The dimers are bridged by N,N,N',N'-tetra-methyl-ethylenediamine ligands, which act in an unusual extended non-chelating coordination mode. This gives a one-dimensional coordination polymer that extends parallel to the a-axis direction.

Project description:The reaction of ethane-1,2-di-amine (en, C2H8N2), the sodium salt of naphthalene-1,5-di-sulfonic acid (H2NDS, C10H8O6S2), and nickel sulfate in an aqueous solution resulted in the formation of the title salt, [Ni(C2H8N2)(H2O)4](C10H6O6S2)·2H2O or [Ni(en)(H2O)4](NDS)·2H2O. In the asymmetric unit, one half of an [Ni(en)(H2O)4]2+ cation and one half of an NDS2- anion, and one water mol-ecule of crystallization are present. The Ni2+ cation in the complex is positioned on a twofold rotation axis and exhibits a slight tetra-gonal distortion of the cis-NiO4N2 octa-hedron, with an Ni-N bond length of 2.0782 (16) Å, and Ni-O bond lengths of 2.1170 (13) Å and 2.0648 (14) Å. The anion is completed by inversion symmetry. In the extended structure, the cations, anions, and non-coordinating water mol-ecules are connected by inter-molecular N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding, as well as C-H⋯π inter-actions, forming a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The cation of the salt, [Mn(2)(C(14)H(14)N(4))(3)(H(2)O)(2)](ClO(4))(4), lies on a center of inversion, the center lying midway along the ethyl-ene chain of the bridging N,N'-bis-(2-pyridylmethyl-ene)ethane-1,2-diamine ligand. The Mn atom is chelated by two atoms N atoms of this bridging ligand, and is also coordinated by four N atoms of another ligand. The Mn atom is seven-coordinated in a penta-gonal-bipyramidal environment. The crystal structure displays inter-molecular π-π inter-actions between adjacent pyridine rings, with a shortest centroid-centroid distance of 3.784 (3) Å. The perchlorate is linked to the dinuclear cation by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, [Cr(NCS)2(C2H8N2)2]2[ZnCl4], has been determined from synchrotron data. In the asymmetric unit, there are four independent halves of the Cr(III) complex cations, each of which lies on an inversion centre, and one tetra-chlorido-zincate anion in a general position. The Cr(III) atoms are coordinated by the four N atoms of two ethane-1,2-di-amine (en) ligands in the equatorial plane and two N-bound NCS(-) anions in a trans arrangement, displaying a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry with crystallographic inversion symmetry. The Cr-N(en) and Cr-N(NCS) bond lengths range from 2.0653 (10) to 2.0837 (10) Å and from 1.9811 (10) to 1.9890 (10) Å, respectively. The five-membered metalla-rings are in stable gauche conformations. The [ZnCl4](2-) anion has a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter-molecular hydrogen bonds involving the en NH2 or CH2 groups as donors and chloride ligands of the anion and S atoms of NCS(-) ligands as acceptors.

Project description:The title compound, {[Fe(NCSe)2(C12H12N2)(H2O)2]·2C12H12N2·2H2O} n , was obtained by the reaction of iron(II) sulfate hepta-hydrate and potassium seleno-cyanate with 1,2-bis-(pyridin-4-yl)ethane (bpa) in water. The Fe(II) cation is coordinated by two N-bonded seleno-cyanate anions, two water mol-ecules and two 1,2-bis-(pyridin-4-yl)ethane (bpa) ligands in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. In addition, two non-coordinating bpa mol-ecules and two water mol-ecules are present. The Fe(II) cation is located on a center of inversion while the coordinating bpa ligand is located on a twofold rotation axis. The Fe(II) cations are linked by the bpa ligands into chains along the b-axis direction, which are further connected into layers perpedicular to the c axis by O-H⋯N and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds to the non-coordin-ating bpa and the water mol-ecules. The crystal studied was twinned by pseudo-merohedry (180° rotation along c*; contribution of the minor twin component 3.7%).

Project description:In the title salt, [Zn(2)(C(2)H(8)N(2))(5)](ClO(4))(4), an ethyl-enediamine mol-ecule bridges two bis-(ethyl-enediamine)-zinc units; the five-coordinate Zn atoms show a trigonal-bipyramidal coordination geometry that is distorted towards square-pyramidal (that of one Zn atom is distorted by 12% and that of the other by 34%). The perchlorate ions are all disordered over two positions in a 1:1 ratio. The cation inter-acts weakly with the anion by N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, generating a three-dimensional network.

Project description:Crystals of the title salt, [Na(C6H14O3)2]2(C26H20), were grown from a tetra-hydro-furan/diglyme/Et2O solvent mixture [diglyme is 1-meth-oxy-2-(2-meth-oxy-eth-oxy)ethane]. The cations and dianion are separated in the crystal structure, unlike in the other three structurally characterized dialkali metal tetra-phenyl-ethyl-ene salts. The asymmetric unit contains one [Na(diglyme)2](+) cation and one half of the [Ph2CCPh2](2-) dianion. The latter lies on a twofold rotation axis. C-C bond-length redistribution displays that excessive electron density of the dianion is predominantly located at the C atoms of a former double bond and at all eight ortho positions. The studied crystal was a twin, with the ratio of two major components being 0.2143 (9):0.7857 (9). The twin operation is a twofold rotation around the a axis.

N,N'-Bis(4-bromo-benzyl-idene)ethane-1,2-diamine.

Project description:The mol-ecule of the title Schiff base compound, C(16)H(14)Br(2)N(2), lies across a crystallographic inversion centre and adopts an E configuration with respect to the azomethine C=N bond. The imino group is coplanar with the aromatic ring. Within the mol-ecule, the planar units are parallel, but extend in opposite directions from the dimethyl-ene bridge. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter-molecular C-H⋯π inter-actions and Br⋯Br [3.6307 (4) Å] short contacts.
