ABSTRACT: The title compound, C13H9ClO2, exhibits a non-planar geometry; the furan ring being inclined to the benzene ring by 50.52 (16)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules stack along the a axis; however, there are no significant inter-molecular inter-actions present.

Project description:The title compound, C17H11BrO2·H2O, crystallizes as a monohydrate in the chiral ortho-rhom-bic space group P212121, and has non-linear optical (NLO) properties. The mol-ecule has an E conformation about the C=C bond and is relatively planar with the benzo-furan and bromo-phenyl rings being inclined to one another by 10.60 (14)°. In the crystal, the water mol-ecule is linked to the organic mol-ecule by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming an R (2) 2(7) ring motif while C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds lead to the formation of helices along the b-axis direction.

Project description:The title compound, C(15)H(10)Cl(2)O, is a chalcone with 3-chloro-phenyl and 4-chloro-phenyl substituents bonded at the opposite ends of a propenone group, the biologically active region. The dihedral angle between mean planes of these two chloro-substituted benzene rings is 46.7 (7)° compared to 46.0 (1) and 32.4 (1)° in similar published sructures. The angles between the mean plane of the prop-2-en-1-one group and the mean planes of the 3-chloro-phenyl and 4-chloro-phenyl rings are 24.1 (2) and 29.63°, respectively. While no classical hydrogen bonds are present, weak inter-molecular C-H⋯π-ring inter-actions are observed, which contribute to the stability of crystal packing.

Project description:The title compound, C19H12ClF3O3, obtained by the photochemical transformation of 2-[5-chloro-2-(prop-2-yn-yloxy)benzo-yl]-3-[4-(tri-fluoro-meth-yl)phen-yl]oxirane adopts a Z conformation with respect to the enolic C=C double bond. The dihedral angle between the benzene rings is 12.25 (16)° and an intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond closes an S(6) ring. An intra-molecular C-H⋯O inter-action also leads to an S(6) ring. In the crystal, very weak C-H⋯O inter-actions and short Cl⋯Cl contacts [3.3221 (16) Å] are seen, as well as weak aromatic π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid separation = 3.879 (2) Å].

Crystal structure and Hirshfeld surface analysis of (<i>E</i>)-3-(2-chloro-phen-yl)-1-(2,5-di-chloro-thio-phen-3-yl)prop-2-en-1-one.

Project description:The mol-ecular structure of the title compound, C13H7Cl3OS, consists of a 2,5- di-chloro-thio-phene ring and a 2-chloro-phenyl ring linked via a prop-2-en-1-one spacer. The dihedral angle between the 2,5-di-chloro-thio-phene and 2-chloro-phenyl rings is 9.69 (12)°. The mol-ecule has an E configuration about the C=C bond and the carbonyl group is syn with respect to the C=C bond. The mol-ecular conformation is stabilized by two intra-molecular C-H⋯Cl contacts and one intra-molecular C-H⋯O contact, forming S(5)S(5)S(6) ring motifs. In the crystal, the mol-ecules are linked along the a-axis direction through van der Waals forces and along the b axis by face-to-face π-stacking between the thio-phene rings and between the benzene rings of neighbouring mol-ecules, forming corrugated sheets lying parallel to the bc plane. The inter-molecular inter-actions in the crystal packing were further analysed using Hirshfield surface analysis, which indicates that the most significant contacts are Cl⋯H/ H⋯Cl (28.6%), followed by C⋯H/H⋯C (11.9%), C⋯C (11.1%), H⋯H (11.0%), Cl⋯Cl (8.1%), O⋯H/H⋯O (8.0%) and S⋯H/H⋯S (6.6%).

Project description:In the title chalcone-thio-phene derivative, C13H6Cl3FOS, the aromatic rings are inclined to one another by 12.9 (2)°, and the thio-phene ring is affected by π-conjugation. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by C-H⋯F hydrogen bonds, forming an R22(8) ring motif. A Hirshfeld surface analysis was conducted to verify the contribution of the different inter-molecular inter-actions. The shape-index surface clearly shows that the two sides of the mol-ecules are involved in the same contacts with neighbouring mol-ecules and the curvedness plots show flat surface patches characteristic of planar stacking.

Project description:The title chalcone derivative, C14H10Cl2O3, is almost planar, with a dihedral angle of 7.0 (2) ° between the 3,5-di-chloro-2-hy-droxy-phenyl and 5-methyl-furan rings. There is an intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond present forming an S(6) ring motif. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by bifurcated C-H/H⋯O hydrogen bonds, enclosing an R 1 2(6) ring motif, forming a 21 helix propagating along the b-axis direction. The inter-molecular inter-actions were qu-anti-fied using Hirshfeld surface analysis.

The dihedral angle between the two benzene rings is 45.9 (2)°. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are arranged into sheets parallel to the ac plane and the sheets are stacked along the b axis. This arrangement is stabilized by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯π inter-actions involving both aromatic rings.
