ADAR1 isoforms are adenosine deaminases that edit and destabilize double-stranded RNA reducing its immunostimulatory activities. Mutation of <i>ADAR1</i> leads to a severe neurodevelopmental and inflammatory disease of children, Aicardi-Goutiéres syndrome.
