Strains of the <i>Burkholderia cepacia</i> complex (Bcc) are Gram-negative opportunisitic bacteria that are capable of causing serious diseases, mainly in immunocompromised individuals. Bcc pathogens are intrinsically resistant to multiple antibiotics, including β-lactams, aminoglycosides, fluoroquinolones, and polymyxins.
