Association study of IGFBP1 and IGFBP3 polymorphisms with hypertension and cardio-cerebral vascular diseases in a Chinese Han population.

ABSTRACT: Previous studies have showed that insulin-like growth factor (IGF) axis is involved in the development of hypertension. It is unclear whether genetic variants in the IGF-binding proteins (IGFBPs) contribute to the susceptibility to hypertension. Three single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in IGFBP1 and four SNPs in IGFBP3 were selected for genotyping in 2,012 hypertension cases and 2,210 healthy controls and 4,128 subjects were followed up for a median of 5.01 years. Multiple logistic regression and Cox regression were performed to evaluate the association of these seven SNPs with hypertension and cardio-cerebral vascular disease (CCVD).
