<h4>Background</h4>Mycobacteriophages are viruses that infect Mycobacterium hosts. A large collection of phages known to infect the same bacterial host strain - Mycobacterium smegmatis mc<sup>2</sup>155 - exhibit substantial diversity and characteristically mosaic architectures.
