The protein toxin Cytotoxic Necrotizing Factor 1 (CNF1) is a major virulence factor of pathogenic <i>Escherichia coli</i> strains. It belongs to a family of single chain AB-toxins, which enter mammalian cells by receptor-mediated endocytosis.
