Small conductance calcium-activated potassium (K<sub>Ca</sub>2) channels are expressed throughout the CNS and play a critical role in synaptic and neuronal excitability. K<sub>Ca</sub>2 channels have a somatodendritic distribution with their highest expression in distal dendrites.
