Hepatitis B Virus Infection Predicts Better Survival In Patients With Colorectal Liver-only Metastases Undergoing Liver Resection.

ABSTRACT: Objective: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection has been shown to decrease the risk of liver metastasis in patients with non-metastatic colorectal cancer (CRC). However, the prognostic value of HBV infection in long-term survival of patients with colorectal liver-only metastases (CRLM) after liver resection has not yet been evaluated. This study aims to explore the association between HBV infection and survival in CRLM patients. Methods: A total of 289 CRLM patients undergoing liver resection were recruited at our center from September 1999 to August 2015. Patients were divided into an HBV infection group and a non-HBV infection group. Progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) related to HBV infection were analyzed using both Kaplan-Meier and multivariate Cox regression method
