Lipid-derived electrophiles (LDEs) are reactive metabolites, which can covalently modify proteins and DNA and regulate diverse cellular processes. 2- trans-Hexadecenal (2-HD) is a byproduct of sphingolipid metabolism, involved in cytoskeletal reorganization, DNA damage, and apoptosis.
