Longitudinal Effects of Adjuvant Endocrine Therapy on the Quality of Life of Post-menopausal Women with Non-metastatic ER+ Breast Cancer: A Systematic Review.

ABSTRACT: BACKGROUND:Anti-estrogen (ER) endocrine therapy is an effective treatment strategy in reducing breast cancer mortality. This therapy has a better therapeutic index than chemotherapy but can still affect patients' quality of life (QOL) over time. OBJECTIVE:The objectives of this systematic review were to (1) describe QOL instruments used in ER-positive (ER+) non-metastatic breast cancer trials and (2) document the longitudinal effects of adjuvant endocrine therapy on the QOL of post-menopausal women with ER+ non-metastatic breast cancer.
