ABSTRACT: Terminalia fagifolia Mart. & Zucc. (Combretaceae) is a plant commonly found in the regions of the Brazilian cerrado, popularly used for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders. There are no reports in the literature on the use of T. fagifolia for the treatment of the cardiovascular system conditions. Nevertheless, plants of the same genus, such as Terminaliaarjuna (Roxb.) Wight & Arn and Terminaliasuperba Engler & Diels, present cardioprotective, hypotensive and vasodilatating effects.
