Double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) is a potent proinflammatory signature of viral infection and is sensed primarily by RIG-I-like receptors (RLRs). Oligomerization of RLRs following binding to cytosolic dsRNA activates and nucleates self-assembly of the mitochondrial antiviral-signaling protein (MAVS).
