The genus Scutellathous Kishii, 1955 (Coleoptera, Elateridae, Dendrometrinae) in China, with description of three new species.

ABSTRACT: Five species of Scutellathous Kishii, 1955 are recognized from China, of which three are new. Scutellathoushabenularis sp. nov., S.nanlingensis sp. nov., and S.quadrata sp. nov. are described and illustrated. A key to species from China, a checklist, and a distribution map are provided. The relationships and comparisons among genera Athous Eschscholtz, 1829, Ohirathous Han & Park, 2012, Parathous Fleutiaux, 1918, and Scutellathous Kishii, 1955 are discussed.

Project description:This paper studies the taxonomy of the genus Metolinus Cameron, 1920 (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae, Staphylininae, Xantholinini) from China and describes three new species: Metolinus xizangensissp. n. from Xizang (Tibet), Metolinus emarginatussp. n. fromSichuan, and Metolinus binariussp. n. from Yunnan. The Chinese fauna of the genus is thus increased to 8 species in total. A key to eight Chinese species is provided. Female genital segments and other important morphological characters are illustrated in line drawings for the new species as well as Metolinus shanicus Bordoni, 2002 and Metolinus gardneri (Cameron, 1945). The text also provides color plates with habitus photographs and a map to show the species' geographical distribution pattern. The type specimens of the new species are deposited in Institute of Zoology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (IZ-CAS).

The new genus Pheude (Coleoptera, Curculionidae, Cossoninae) with description of a new species from mainland China.

Project description:A new weevil, Pheudepunctatus gen. et sp. n., of the tribe Dryotribini in Cossoninae, is described from Guangdong Province, South China. It differs from the related genera Dryotribus Horn and Microtribodes Morimoto in having antennae with seven articles and a distinct scutellum, and from Ochronanus Pascoe and Stenomimus Wollaston in having long antennae, a rostrum with a medio-longitudinal furrow beginning at the posterior margin of the eyes and extending approximately midway on the rostrum, and a moderately elevated, medio-longitudinal carina extending the full length of the pronotum. Other diagnostic characters and illustrations are provided. A key to the genera of Dryotribini known from China is given.

Lendatus, a new genus of Xanthopygina (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Staphylininae) with description of three new species.

Project description:A new genus of Xanthopygina rove beetles is described here as Lendatus gen. nov. The new genus includes three new species: L. bolivianus sp. nov., described from Bolivia, L. philothalpiformis sp. nov. described from Costa Rica and Panama, and L. platys sp. nov. described from Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. Lendatus belongs to the Isanopus group of genera of Xanthopygina and can distinguished from all the genera based on the unique punctation on the pronotum and the long apical setae of the paramere. A key to the three species of Lendatus along with photographs and illustrations is provided for the identification of species.

Notes on the genus Apteroloma of China with description of a new species (Coleoptera, Agyrtidae).

Project description:A new species, Apteroloma zhejiangensesp. n., is described from Zhejiang Province, China. The habitus and sexual characters of the new species are illustrated. Apteroloma jinfo Růžička, is reported for the first time from China: Hubei and Hunan Provinces, and Apteroloma potanini (Semenov, 1893) from Ningxia and Henan Provinces. Presence of Apteroloma kozlovi Semenov-Tian-Shanskij & Znojko in Semenov-Tian-Shanskij, 1932 in South Korea is confirmed based on re-examined material.
