Atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) is a cardiac hormone with pleiotropic cardiovascular and metabolic properties including vasodilation, natriuresis and suppression of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. Moreover, ANP induces lipolysis, lipid oxidation, adipocyte browning and ameliorates insulin sensitivity.
