Project description:Congenital absence of left circumflex artery is a rare occurrence and very few cases have been reported in literature. It is a benign incidental finding; however some patients present with sudden onset chest pain mimicking acute coronary syndrome often resulting in detection of this rare anatomy on coronary angiography. Coronary computed tomography angiography is a relatively new noninvasive imaging modality which can be used to confirm this suspicion and diagnose this unique morphology reliably.

Project description:We report a rare coronary artery anomaly-anomalous origin of the left anterior descending artery from the pulmonary artery in a 40-year-old woman. The uniqueness of this case is the absence of any significant morbidity from this condition in adulthood which is in contrast to other reported cases where patients present with myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, and sometimes death during the early infantile period.(1).

Project description:Congenital anomalies of coronary arteries are a group of diseases that are infrequently found. Their prevalence has been reported from 0.6% to 1.3%. Most clinical manifestations are benign and asymptomatic. Congenital absence of the left circumflex artery is a very rare congenital anomaly of the coronary circulation, and only a few cases have been reported in the literature. We report a case of a 51-year-old man who underwent a cardiac catheterisation. Coronary angiography showed a left anterior descending coronary artery with no circumflex and a dominant right coronary artery.

Project description:Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) with unilateral absence of pulmonary artery and the anomalous coronary artery is a rare combination. Detailed preoperative evaluation of coronary artery anatomy is must to prevent injury to the major vessels crossing right ventricular outflow tract. We report a rare association of single coronary artery with left circumflex artery crossing right ventricular outflow tract close to the pulmonary annulus in tetralogy of Fallot with absent left pulmonary artery in 11-year-old girl. Though there is a great diversity of coronary anomalies in tetralogy of Fallot, the prepulmonic course of left circumflex artery crossing the right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) close to the pulmonary annulus has rarely been described in the literature. The patient underwent successful primary single lung intracardiac repair. Right ventricular outflow tract obstruction was treated by handmade valved pericardial autologous conduit and release of the tethering of hypoplastic native unicuspid pulmonary valve leaflet maintaining its integrity.

Project description:Sub-mitral aneurysm (SMA) is a rare cardiac malformation commonly reported in young adults of African ancestry. SMA is considered a congenital disease caused by developmental defect due to weakness at the atrioventricular junction near the posterior mitral annulus. In the past two decades, a considerable number of cases regarding this rare disease have been reported in Asians, highlighting the importance of considering SMA in differential diagnosis of young patients presenting with mitral regurgitation and chest pain. Herein, we report the case of a young male with atypical chest pain with compression of left circumflex coronary artery by a large SMA. <Learning objective: Sub-mitral aneurysm is a rare cardiac malformation, caused by developmental defect due to weakness at the atrioventricular junction near the posterior mitral annulus. Patients may be entirely asymptomatic, or they can present with mitral regurgitation with or without left ventricular dysfunction, heart failure, systemic thromboembolism, ventricular wall rupture causing tamponade, myocardial ischemia due to compression of coronary arteries, ventricular arrhythmias, or sometimes sudden cardiac death. Strong suspicion and early diagnosis followed by surgery can prevent sudden cardiac death.>.
