Transcription factors (TFs) bind to specific sequences in DNA to regulate transcription. Despite extensive measurements of TFs' dissociation constant (Kd) in vitro, their apparent Kdin vivo are usually unknown. LacI, a bacterial TF, is often used to artificially recruit proteins onto eukaryotic genomes.
