Sex-determining genes have been successively isolated in several teleosts. In <i>Odontesthes hatcheri</i> and <i>O. bonariensis</i>, the <i>amhy</i> gene has been identified as a master sex-determining gene. However, whether this gene is conserved along related species is still unknown.
