The <i>Peribunyaviridae</i> family contains the genera <i>Orthobunyavirus</i>, <i>Herbevirus</i>, <i>Pacuvirus</i>, and <i>Shangavirus</i>. Orthobunyaviruses and pacuviruses are mainly transmitted by blood-feeding insects and infect a variety of vertebrates whereas herbeviruses and shangaviruses have a host range restricted to insects.
