Draft Genome Sequence of Paenibacillus polymyxa 3A-25AI, a Strain Antagonist to Root Rot Causal Phytopathogens.

ABSTRACT: Here, we report the draft genome sequence of the Paenibacillus polymyxa 3A-25AI strain, isolated from the rhizosphere of wild grass. This strain inhibits Phytophthora capsici and Rhizoctonia solani phytopathogens. The genome size is 5.6 Mb, with a G+C content of 45.59%, and contains 5,079 genes, 4,968 coding DNA sequences (CDSs), 35 tRNAs, 3 rRNAs, and 72 unexpected miscellaneous RNA (miscRNA) features.

Here, we report the draft genome sequence of the Paenibacillus polymyxa 3A-25AI strain, isolated from the rhizosphere of wild grass. Project description:Paenibacillus polymyxa is an endospore-forming Gram-positive soil bacterium that is well-known for its ability to promote plant growth. Here we report the draft genome sequence of P. polymyxa ATCC 842(T), the type strain of the species P. polymyxa, and the family Paenibacillaceae. The P. polymyxa genome contains a repertoire of biosynthetic genes for antibiotics and hydrolytic enzymes that account for its beneficial effects in the rhizosphere to the host plants it associates with.

Draft genome sequence data of Paenibacillus Polymyxa strain TH2H2, isolated from a tomato flower in Korea.

Project description:Members of the genus Paenibacillus are known for their production of useful substances, and some species of the genus are recognized to be plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria. Paenibacillus polymyxa TH2H2, isolated from a tomato flower, had antifungal activity. Here, the draft genome sequence of Paenibacillus polymyxa TH2H2 is reported. The 5,983,104-bp genome, with a G+C content of 45.31%, comprised 5,221 protein-coding genes, 64 ribosomal RNA and 100 transfer RNA. Three intact antibiotic biosynthesis gene clusters were identified using antiSMASH. These encoded the antifungal agent fusaricidin and two antibacterial agents, tridecaptin and polymyxin. Sequence data have been deposited in the DDBJ/ENA/GenBank database under the accession number RPDG01000000. The version described in this paper is RPDG00000000.1. Project description:We report here the draft genome sequence of Paenibacillus polymyxa KF-1, which exhibits excellent antimicrobial activity. It encodes the synthase of bacitracin, kalimantacin, bacillomycin, iturin, fusaricidin, tridecaptin, and pelgipeptin and biosynthetic pathways of antiviral curldan and levan polysaccharides. Also, a novel prophage is involved in this genome that contains endolysin-encoding genes.

Production and сharacterization of the exopolysaccharide from strain Paenibacillus polymyxa 2020.

Project description:Paenibacillus spp. exopolysaccharides (EPSs) have become a growing interest recently as a source of biomaterials. In this study, we characterized Paenibacillus polymyxa 2020 strain, which produces a large quantity of EPS (up to 68 g/L),and was isolated from wasp honeycombs. Here we report its complete genome sequence and full methylome analysis detected by Pacific Biosciences SMRT sequencing. Moreover, bioinformatic analysis identified a putative levan synthetic operon. SacC and sacB genes have been cloned and their products identified as glycoside hydrolase and levansucrase respectively. The Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra demonstrated that the EPS is a linear β-(2→6)-linked fructan (levan). The structure and properties of levan polymer produced from sucrose and molasses were analyzed by FT-IR, NMR, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), high performance size exclusion chromatography (HPSEC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), cytotoxicity tests and showed low toxicity and high biocompatibility. Thus, P. polymyxa 2020 could be an exceptional cost-effective source for the industrial production of levan-type EPSs and to obtain functional biomaterials based on it for a broad range of applications, including bioengineering.

Draft genome sequence of Bacillus velezensis 2A-2B strain: a rhizospheric inhabitant of Sporobolus airoides (Torr.) Torr., with antifungal activity against root rot causing phytopathogens.

Project description:A Bacillus velezensis strain from the rhizosphere of Sporobolus airoides (Torr.) Torr., a grass in central-north México, was isolated during a biocontrol of phytopathogens scrutiny study. The 2A-2B strain exhibited at least 60% of growth inhibition of virulent isolates of phytopathogens causing root rot. These phytopathogens include Phytophthora capsici, Fusarium solani, Fusarium oxysporum and Rhizoctonia solani. Furthermore, the 2A-2B strain is an indolacetic acid producer, and a plant inducer of PR1, which is an induced systemic resistance related gene in chili pepper plantlets. Whole genome sequencing was performed to generate a draft genome assembly of 3.953 MB with 46.36% of GC content, and a N50 of 294,737. The genome contains 3713 protein coding genes and 89 RNA genes. Moreover, comparative genome analysis revealed that the 2A-2B strain had the greatest identity (98.4%) with Bacillus velezensis.

Draft genome sequence of Paenibacillus sp. strain A2.

Project description:Paenibacillus sp. strain A2 is a Gram-negative rod-shaped bacterium isolated from a mixture of formation water and petroleum in Daqing oilfield, China. This facultative aerobic bacterium was found to have a broad capacity for metabolizing hydrocarbon and organosulfur compounds, which are the main reasons for the interest in sequencing its genome. Here we describe the features of Paenibacillus sp. strain A2, together with the genome sequence and its annotation. The 7,650,246 bp long genome (1 chromosome but no plasmid) exhibits a G+C content of 54.2 % and contains 7575 protein-coding and 49 RNA genes, including 3 rRNA genes. One putative alkane monooxygenase, one putative alkanesulfonate monooxygenase, one putative alkanesulfonate transporter and four putative sulfate transporters were found in the draft genome.

Project description:A (2R,3R)-2,3-butanediol dehydrogenase (BDH99::67) from Paenibacillus polymyxa ATCC 12321 was functionally characterized. The genetic characteristics of BDH99::67 are completely different from those of meso- and (2S,3S)-2,3-butanediol dehydrogenases. The results showed that BDH99::67 belongs to the medium-chain dehydrogenase/reductase superfamily and not to the short-chain dehydrogenase/reductase superfamily, to which meso- and (2S,3S)-2,3-butanediol dehydrogenases belong.
