In this paper, we have demonstrated the feasibility of using microorganism-ionizing respirators with reduced breathing resistance to remove airborne bacteria. Using a miniaturized corona ionizer and two pairs of separator electrodes, airborne bacteria were ionized and removed from the airflow.
