Canonical transient receptor potential (TRPC) channels were identified as key players in maladaptive remodeling, with nuclear factor of activated T-cells (NFAT) transcription factors serving as downstream targets of TRPC-triggered Ca<sup>2+</sup> entry in these pathological processes.
