The enigmatic beetle tribe Nototylini (Carabidae) is revised and a key to species is provided. Two species from South America are included in the genus. One species, <i>Nototylus fryi</i> (Schaum), is reviewed and a second, <i>Nototylus balli</i> Erwin & Kavanaugh, <b>sp. nov.</b>, is described as new.
