Crystal structure of SrCo₄(OH)(PO₄)₃, a new hy-droxy-phosphate.

ABSTRACT: Single crystals of strontium tetra-cobalt tris-(orthophosphate) hydroxide, SrCo₄(OH)(PO₄)₃, were grown serendipitously under hydro-thermal conditions at 473 K. The crystal structure consists of undulating chains of edge-sharing [CoO₆] octa-hedra that are linked into (010) layers by common vertices between chains. Adjacent layers are linked along [010] into a framework structure by tetra-hedral [CoO₄] units and by PO₄ tetra-hedra. The framework delimits channels extending along [100] in which the eleven-coordinate strontium cations are situated. Bifurcated O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds of weak strengths consolidate the crystal packing. The title compound was also characterized by infrared spectroscopy.

Project description:In an attempt to grow 8-hy-droxy-quinoline-acetamino-phen co-crystals from equimolar amounts of conformers in a chloro-form-ethanol solvent mixture at room temperature, the title compound, C9H7NO, was obtained. The mol-ecule is planar, with the hy-droxy H atom forming an intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond. In the crystal, mol-ecules form centrosymmetric dimers via two O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds. Thus, the hy-droxy H atoms are involved in bifurcated O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, leading to the formation of a central planar four-membered N2H2 ring. The dimers are bound by inter-molecular π-π stacking [the shortest C⋯C distance is 3.2997 (17) Å] and C-H⋯π inter-actions into a three-dimensional framework. The crystal grown represents a new monoclinic polymorph in the space group P21/n. The mol-ecular structure of the present monoclinic polymorph is very similar to that of the ortho-rhom-bic polymorph (space group Fdd2) studied previously [Roychowdhury et al. (1978 ▶). Acta Cryst. The structures of the two polymorphs are distinguished by the different geometries of the hydrogen-bonded dimers, which in the crystal of the ortho-rhom-bic polymorph possess twofold axis symmetry, with the central N2H2 ring adopting a butterfly conformation.

Synthesis and crystal structure of a new alluaudite-like iron phosphate Na2CaMnFe(PO4)3.

Project description:A new iron phosphate, disodium calcium manganese(II) iron(III) tris(phosphate), Na2CaMnFe(PO4)3, has been synthesized as single crystals by the flux technique. This compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c. The structure belongs to the alluaudite structural type and thus, it obeys the X(2)X(1)M(1)M(2)2(PO4)3 general formula. Both the X(2) and X(1) sites are fully occupied by sodium, while M(1) is occupied by calcium and M(2) exhibits a statistical distribution of iron and manganese.

Synthesis and crystal structure of a new magnesium phosphate Na3RbMg7(PO4)6.

Project description:A new magnesium phosphate, Na3RbMg7(PO4)6 [tris-odium rubidium hepta-magnesium hexakis(ortho-phosphate)], has been synthesized as single crystals by the flux method and exhibits a new structure type. Its original structure is built up from MgO x (x = 5 and 6) polyhedra linked directly to each other through common corners or edges and reinforced by corner-sharing with PO4 tetra-hedra. The resulting anionic three-dimensional framework leads to the formation of channels along the [010] direction, in which the Na+ cations are located, while the Rb+ cations are located in large inter-stitial cavities.

Crystal structure of N-hy-droxy-picolinamide monohydrate.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, C6H6N2O2·H2O, consists of N-hy-droxy-picolinamide and water mol-ecules connected through O-H⋯O and N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds. The O-H⋯O inter-actions and π-π stacking inter-actions between the pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.427 (1) Å] organize the components into columns extending along the b axis and the N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds link these columns into a two-dimensional framework parallel to (100). The N-hy-droxy-picolinamide mol-ecule adopts a strongly flattened conformation and only the O-H group H atom deviates significantly from the mol-ecule best plane. The dihedral angle between the hydroxamic group and the pyridine ring is 5.6 (2)°. The conformation about the hydroxamic group C-N bond is Z and that about the C-C bond between the pyridine and hydroxamic groups is E.

Crystal structure of hy-droxy scandium nitrate chloride.

Project description:Each Sc3+ ion in the title salt, di-μ-hydroxido-bis-[tri-aqua-(nitrato-κ2 O,O')scandium(III)] dichloride, [Sc2(NO3)2(OH)2(H2O)6]Cl2, is coordinated by a nitrate anion, two hydroxide ions and three water mol-ecules to generate a distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal ScO7 coordination polyhedron. The complete {[(NO3)(μ-OH)Sc(H2O)3]2}2+ ion is generated by crystallographic inversion symmetry. The nitrate anion binds in a bidentate fashion whereas the hydroxide ions are bridged between two Sc centers. Two charge-balancing Cl- ions are located in the outer sphere. In the extended structure, O-H⋯O and O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds connect the components into a three-dimensional network.

Crystal structure of (E)-4-hy-droxy-N'-(3-hy-droxy-benzyl-idene)benzohydrazide monohydrate.

Project description:In the title benzohydrazide hydrate, C14H12N2O3·H2O, the dihedral angle between the aromatic rings is 58.11 (6)° and the C=O and N-H groups adopt an anti orientation. The main twist in the mol-ecule occurs about the C(=O)-Car (ar = aromatic) bond, with an N-C(=O)-Car-Car torsion angle of -43.5 (2)°. In the crystal, the components are linked by N-H⋯O, O-H⋯N and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. These inter-actions generate [10-1] chains, with adjacent organic mol-ecules linked by inversion symmetry generating either pairs of N-H⋯O links [R 2 (2)(16) loops] or pairs of O-H⋯O links [R 2 (2)(20) loops]. Pairs of water mol-ecules are located in the R 2 (2)(20) loops and form their own O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds to adjacent organic mol-ecules in the chain. Finally, an inter-chain O-H⋯O hydrogen-bond link from the 4-hy-droxy group generates (010) sheets.

Crystal structure of a layered phosphate molybdate K2Gd(PO4)(MoO4).

Project description:The title compound dipotassium gadolinium(III) phosphate(V) molybdate(VI), K2Gd(PO4)(MoO4), was synthesized from a high-temperature melt starting from GdF3 as a source of gadolinium. Its structure is isotypic with other M I 2 M III(M VIO4)(PO4) compounds, where M I = Na, K or Cs, and M III = rare-earth cation, M VI = Mo or W. The three-dimensional framework is built up from [Gd(PO4)(MoO4)] anionic sheets, which are organized by adhesion of [GdPO4] layers and [MoO4] tetra-hedra stacked above and below these layers. The inter-stitial space is occupied by K cations having eightfold oxygen coordination. The polyhedron of GdO8 was estimated to be a triangular dodeca-hedron by the continuous shape measurement method.

Crystal structure of N'-hy-droxy-pyrimidine-2-carboximidamide.

Project description:The title compound, C5H6N4O, is approximately planar, with an angle of 11.04 (15)° between the planes of the pyrimidine ring and the non-H atoms of the carboximidamide unit. The mol-ecule adopts an E configuration about the C=N double bond. In the crystal, adjacent mol-ecules are linked by pairs of N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming inversion dimers with an R 2 (2)(10) ring motif.
