Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) is a common cancer predisposition syndrome caused by mutations in the <i>NF1</i> tumor suppressor gene. <i>NF1</i> encodes neurofibromin, a GTPase-activating protein for RAS proto-oncogene GTPase (RAS).
