Carbonic anhydrases (CAs, EC 4.2.1.1) are ubiquitous metalloenzymes involved in biosynthetic processes, transport, supply, and balance of CO<sub>2</sub>/HCO<sub>3</sub> <sup>-</sup> into the cell.
