Microbial diversity in relation to physico-chemical properties of hot water ponds located in the Yamunotri landscape of Garhwal Himalaya.

ABSTRACT: The current study includes the assessment of physico-chemical characteristics along with the microbial diversity of hot water samples collected from three important sacred hot water springs of the Uttarakhand Himalaya close to the world-famous Hindu shrine Yamunotri temple. Hot water samples were collected for two consecutive years 2015-2016 in two sampling operations each year. A total of fifteen physico-chemical attributes of hot water were recorded. Microbes of hot water ponds were characterized by morphological, biochemical, MALDI-TOF MS, and molecular approaches.
