Clinical values of common biomarkers for efficacy monitoring of antibiotics in early-onset neonatal sepsis.

ABSTRACT:

Background

To investigate the clinical values of the common biomarkers including blood routine (B-Rt), C-reactive protein (CRP), serum amyloid A (SAA) and procalcitonin (PCT) for efficacy monitoring of antibiotics in early-onset neonatal sepsis (EONS).

Methods

The clinical and laboratory data of 78 neonates with confirmed EONS in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) of our center from July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. All the subjects were treated with cefotiam (50 mg/kg q12h) and augmentin (30 mg/kg q12h) within 12 hours after birth. Blood samples were collected 0-12 hours after birth for blood culture, measurements of B-Rt, CRP and SAA. Subsequently, blood sampling was performed at intervals of 12-24, 24-48, 48-96, and 96-144 hours for measure
