Pulmonary function and factors associated with current smoking among the hill tribe populations in northern Thailand: a cross-sectional study.

Background

Smoking is considered one of the major poor health behaviors leading to several health problems. Individuals with a poor education and economic status are vulnerable to smoking, particularly the hill tribe people in Thailand. This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of current smoking, assess pulmonary function, and identify factors associated with current smoking among individuals aged 20 years and older of the hill tribes in northern Thailand.

Method

A cross-sectional study was conducted to gather information from the hill tribe people living in 42 hill tribe villages.
