The complete mitochondrial genome of Poropuntius huangchuchieni (Cyprinidae).

ABSTRACT: We sequenced the mitogenome of Poropuntius huangchuchieni from Yunnan Plateau. The mitogenome was 16,554 bp in length and comprised 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNAs, and 2 ribosomal RNAs. The base composition included 32.3% for A, 25.8% for T, 15.6% for G, and 26.3% for C, respectively. The gene order was identical to other published Cyprinidae species. The phylogenetic analysis showed that P. huangchuchieni was close to Puntius tetrazona, a Puntigrus fish in Cyprinidae family.

The complete genome is 16,576 bp in length with an A + T content of 54.9%, which contains 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, and 2 rRNA genes. The phylogenetic analysis indicated that S. davidi is closely related to Schizothorax lissolabiatus. These results contribute to explore the adaptation strategy of S. davidi on the conditions of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

The complete genome is 16,591 bp in length which contains 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, 2 rRNA genes, an origin of light-strand replication (OL) and a control region (D-Loop). The complete mtDNA sequence of S. gongshanensis provides a useful genetic marker for the studies on molecular systematics, population genetics and stock assessment.

Complete mitochondrial genome of the Ptychobarbus chungtienensis (Teleostei: Cyprinidae).

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome of Ptychobarbus chungtienensis was first determined by using a PCR-based sequencing method. Its mitochondrial genome is 16,970bp in length, consisting of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, 2 ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes, and a non-coding control region, and its gene order was consistent with other fishes. In the control region, there was a 54 bp tandem repeat array identified at 3' end. Phylogenetic analysis showed that P. chungtiensensis was clustered with other three species of Ptychobarbus.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Neolissochilus stracheyi (Osteichthyes:Cyprinidae).

Project description:Neolissochilus stracheyi Day 1871 is a rare specie of fish inhabit clear forest streams and rivers. In order to discuss the phylogenetic position of N. stracheyi, the mitochondrial genome was obtained by sequencing. The genome was 16,587 bp in length with an accession number OM203155. The AT contents were 56.59%. The location and composition of genes are consistent with published Cyprinids containing 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, and 1 main non-coding regions. Sequence analysis showed that the mitochondrial genome of N. stracheyi has high sequence homology with other cyprinid fishes. Phylogenetic tree results showed that N. stracheyi is most closely related to Neolissochilus heterostomus. The mitochondrial sequence is of great significance for fish conservation, taxonomic status and resource exploitation.

Project description:In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of Crossocheilus siamensis has been determined by polymerase chain reaction methods for the first time. The overall base composition of C. siamensis mitogenome is 30.4% for A, 25.5% for C, 17.1% for G, and 27.0% for T. The percentage of G + C content is 42.6%. The mitogenome is a circular DNA molecule of 16,611bp in length with a D-loop region and contains 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, 2 ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes, and 13 protein-coding genes. The mitochondrial genome sequencing for C. siamensis in this study provides important molecular data for further evolutionary analysis for Cyprinoidea.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Shizothorax grahami (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae).

Project description:Shizothorax grahami (S. grahami) is an underlying economic cold-freshwater fish in southwest China. In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of S. grahami was determined (GenBank accession number is NC_029708). The mitochondrial genome sequence of S. grahami was a circular molecule with 16,584 bp in length, and contained 37 typical animal mitochondrial genes including 2 ribosomal RNA genes, 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes and a control region (D-loop). Four nucleotide compositions and their relative proportions of the entire mitogenome was 27.14% C, 19.93% G, 29.58% A and 25.34% T. Among most species of genus Shizothorax, Schizothorax davidi had the closest relationship with S. grahami, and then Schizothorax prenanti.

Project description:Here, we reported the complete mitochondrial genome of Cyclocheilichthys enoplos, which is widely distributed in Southeast Asia. The genome was 16,579 bp in length, containing 2 ribosomal RNA genes, 22 tRNA genes, a non-coding control region (D-loop), and 13 protein-coding genes. The overall base composition of C. enoplos was 33.1% for A, 24.5% for T, 14.9% for G, and 27.5% for C. Phylogenetic analysis showed that all Cyclocheilichthys species clustered together formed a monophyletic group. The complete mitogenome data of C. enoplos would provide a basis for further systematic studies of the genus Cyclocheilichthys.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Pethia padamya (Actinopteri, Cyprinidae).

Project description:Pethia padamya (Kullander and Britz, 2008) is a freshwater fish distributed in the Mekong River basin of Thailand. It has beautiful colors and can be used as an ornamental fish. The complete mitochondrial genome of P. padamya was determined using next-generation sequencing technology and its characteristics were analyzed. The mitochondrial genome is a closed circular molecule comprising 16,792 bp, including 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, two rRNA genes, and a major non-coding region. The overall base composition of the mitochondrial genome is 32.47% A, 25.39% C, 26.08% T, and 16.06% G, with a high A + T bias of 58.55%. Phylogenetic analysis revealed P. padamya as a sister group of Pethia conchonius+(Pethia ticto+Pethia cumingii) and Pethia gelius with maximal support, providing support for the monophyly of the genus Pethia based on concatenated nucleotide sequences. The results of this study proved the monophyly of the genus Pethia. These data for the first time provide information on the complete mitochondrial genome of P. padamya and can contribute to further studies on the biodiversity and management of P. padamya.
