Mitochondrial genome characterization and phylogenetic analysis of Blastocladiella sp. (Blastocladiales: Blastocladiaceae).

ABSTRACT: In the present study, the complete mitochondrial genome of an early diverging fungus Blastocladiella sp. was assembled by the next-generation sequencing. The complete mitochondrial genome of Blastocladiella sp. is 33, 800 bp in length and consists of 11,620 (34.38%) adenine, 5,047 (14.93%) cytosine, 6,025 (17.83%) guanosine and 11,108 (32.86%) thymine. The genome contains 19 protein-coding genes, 24 tRNA genes and 2 rRNA genes. Phylogenetic analysis based on the combined mitochondrial gene set showed that Blastocladiella sp. has a close relationship with Allomyces macrogynus and Blastocladiella emersonii.

Project description:In the present study, the complete mitochondrial genome of Rhizophagus sp. was assembled by the next-generation sequencing. We found that the complete mitochondrial genome of Rhizophagus sp. is 50,449 bp in length and consists of 14,741 (29.22%) adenine, 9427 (18.69%) cytosine, 9248 (18.33%) guanosine, and 17,033 (33.76%) thymine. The genome contains 24 conserved core protein-coding genes, 25 tRNA genes, and 2 rRNA genes. Phylogenetic analysis based on the combined mitochondrial gene set showed that Rhizophagus sp. has a close relationship with Rhizophagus fasciculatus, Glomus irregular, and G. intratadices.

Project description:In the present study, we presented the complete mitochondrial genome of an entomophthoroid fungus Conidiobolus sp. The mitogenome of Conidiobolus sp. has a total length of 26,612 bp, with the base composition as follows: A (44.22%), T (27.10%), C (10.99%) and G (17.68%). The mitogenome contains 19 protein-coding genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes (rRNA), and 23 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes. The taxonomic status of the Conidiobolus sp. mitogenome exhibited a close relationship with the mitogenome of Conidiobolus heterosporus.

Characterization and phylogenetic analysis of the complete mitochondrial genome of Rhinogobius sp. (Perciformes, Gobiidae).

Project description:The genus Rhinogobius was widely distributed in East Asia. In the present study, the complete mitochondrial genome of Rhinogobius sp., possible a new species of freshwater goby from Anhui province of China, was sequenced for the first time. Sequence analysis showed that it is 16,511 bp in length with A + T content of 52.3%, consisting of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNAs, two ribosomal RNAs, and a control region (CR). Phylogenetic analyses placed Rhinogobius sp. in a well-supported monophyletic cluster with other Rhinogobius fish and the phylogenetic position of Rhinogobius sp. was closer to Rhinogobius cliffordpopei.

Mitochondrial genome of Chalcidoidea sp. (Hymenoptera: Apocrita: Chalcidoidea) and phylogenetic analysis.

Project description:Chalcidoidea (Hymenoptera) are minute wasps which can attack immature and adult stages of virtually all insect orders. Here, we sequenced and annotated the mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of Chalcidoidea sp. This mitogenome was 15,152 bp long and encoded 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 20 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs), and 2 ribosomal RNA unit genes (rRNAs). All 13 PCGs were initiated by the ATN (ATG, ATT, ATA, and ATC) codon. All PCGs terminate with the stop codons TAA or TAG except for nad4 which ended with the incomplete codon T-. Phylogenetic analysis showed that Chalcidoidea sp. got together with the species Encyrtus infelix and Eurytoma sp., and species in Chalcidoidea formed a sister group to other Cynipoidea and Proctotrupoidea species.

Characterization and phylogenetic analysis of Corydoras trilineatus mitochondrial genome.

The total length of the mitochondrial genome is 16,526 bp. It contains two ribosomal RNA genes, 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, and a major non-coding control region . The arrangement of these genes is the same as that found in the Siluriformes. The complete mitogenomes of C. trilineatus and other 17 species from nine genera were used for phylogenetic analysis by UPGMA method. The topology demonstrated that all species are divided into three groups , and the C. trilineatus was clustered with C. rabauti and C. nattereri.

Project description:Corydoras arcuatus is a kind of famous and precious ornamental fish. In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome yielded by next-generation sequencing of Corydoras arcuatus was assembled and analyzed. The total length of the mitochondrial genome is 16,822 bp, with the base composition of 32.40% A, 26.10% T, 26.30% C, and 15.20% G. It contains two ribosomal RNA genes, 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, and a major non-coding control region (D-loop region). The arrangement of these genes is the same as that found in the Siluriformes. All the protein initiation codons are ATG, except for cox1 that begins with GTG. The complete mitogenomes of C. arcuatus and other 17 species from nine genera were used for phylogenetic analysis by Neighbour-Joining method. The topology demonstrated that all species are divided into three groups (Siluridae, Loricariidae, and Callichthyidae), and the C. arcuatus was clustered with C. rabauti and C. nattereri.

Project description:In the present study, the complete mitogenome of Cryptococcus sp. were sequenced and assembled. The complete mitogenome of Cryptococcus sp. was composed of circular DNA molecules, with a total length of 30,029 bp. The base composition of this mitochondrial genome is as follows: A (31.94%), T (34.89%), G (15.97%), and C (17.21%). The mitogenome contains 20 protein-coding genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes (rRNA), and 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes. Phylogenetic analysis showed that the mitogenome of the Cryptococcus sp. exhibited a closest relationship with Cryptococcus gattii.

The complete mitochondrial genome and phylogenetic analysis of Hiatella sp. J (Mollusca: Hiatellidae).

Project description:The genus Hiatella is one of most abundant and widespread marine bivalves. To date, its intra-generic phylogeny remains disputed and mitogenome information is therefore much needed. Here, we first report the complete circular mitogenome of Hiatella sp. J that is distributed in the coast of Asia Pacific. The total length of this mitochondrial genome is 21,233 base pairs. It consists of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNAs, 2 ribosomal RNAs, and a major noncoding region (MNR). Phylogenetic analysis of COI from 25 species (Hiatellidae) revealed that the Hiatella sp. J was closely related to Asian Hiatella in the family Hiatellidae. This Hiatella mitogenome provides new molecular data for the further taxonomic and phylogenetic studies of the genus Hiatella of marine bivalves.

Complete mitochondrial genome of Caranx equula (Perciformes, Carangidae): genome characterization and phylogenetic analysis.

Project description:Caranx equula is an important marine fish which due to its commercial values. However, some wild populations of C. equula are in danger because of the overfishing and environmental pollution. In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of C. equula was firstly determined. The complete mitochondrial genome is 16,607 base pairs in length, and contained 13 protein-coding genes and 2 ribosomal RNA genes, 22 tRNA genes and 2 main non-coding regions. Overall A + T content was 52.9%. In addition, a phylogenetic tree was constructed using the complete mitochondrial genome and showed that C. equula clustered in a clade and formed a sister relationship with Caranx ignobilis belonged to the family of Carangidae.

Complete mitochondrial genome of Chinese salamander Batrachuperus pinchonii: genome characterization and phylogenetic analysis.

Project description:The complete mitogenome sequence of Batrachuperus pinchonii (Caudata: Hynobiidae) has been amplified and sequenced in this study. The overall base composition of B. pinchonii mitogenome is 33.9% for A, 19.7% for C, 13.6% for G, and 32.8% for T and has low GC content of 33.3%. The assembled mitogenome, consisting of 16,381 bp, has 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA genes, and 1 D-loop region. All PCGs, except for ND6 gene, were encoded on H-strand. Phylogenetic analysis with the whole mitogenome sequences revealed a close relationship of B. pinchonii with B. tibetanus.
